The Role
The team provides market-leading tax advisory services to both financial investors and corporate clients. It operates as a connected, collaborative national team across multiple sectors.
Key client groups include:
- Financial Investors
- Including private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors such as pension funds and sovereign investors, often with international investment strategies.
- Corporate Clients
- Large and mid-sized businesses undertaking strategic transactions such as acquisitions, disposals, demergers, carve-outs, and joint ventures, both domestically and cross-border.
- Mid-Market / Regional Clients
- Businesses and investors operating across a range of sectors, supporting growth and investment within local and national markets.
The team advises across the full deal lifecycle, including:
- Buy-side due diligence and structuring
- Sell-side/vendor assistance and vendor due diligence
- Refinancing and listing support
Transactions vary significantly in size and complexity. The team supports clients by:
- Identifying and assessing historical tax risks
- Structuring transactions efficiently
- Advising across multiple taxes and jurisdictions
- Supporting value creation throughout the investment lifecycle
Work is often international in scope, requiring collaboration across different countries and specialist teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with senior leadership on complex transactions to deliver high-quality advice
- Support business development activities, including proposals and pitch participation
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, legal advisers, and internal stakeholders
- Coach and develop junior team members
- Prepare and review technical advice across UK and international tax matters
- Analyse tax-related data and documentation, identifying key issues and commercial implications
- Collaborate with domestic and international specialists, providing constructive challenge where needed
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax developments (e.g. UK and OECD)
- Review financial models from a tax perspective
- Contribute to thought leadership initiatives
The Person
- Professionally qualified (e.g. CTA, ACA/CA or equivalent)
- Strong interest in transaction-related work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong UK corporate tax knowledge, with awareness of broader tax and accounting areas
- Analytical and commercially minded approach to problem-solving
- Strong project management skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Proactive in identifying and developing business opportunities
- Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
- Experience in developing, coaching, and leading teams
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
