US / UK Private Client Tax Director / Senior Manager
About the Opportunity
A leading international advisory firm is expanding its specialist US / UK Private Client Tax team to meet growing demand from high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, entrepreneurial families and family offices with US connections.
This team advises clients who are subject to the unique complexities of the US tax system, particularly where individuals have international structures, cross-border assets, trusts, pensions, investments or changing residency positions.
The role offers the opportunity to join a growing and high-profile practice delivering integrated US and UK private client tax advisory services to a sophisticated global client base.
The Team
The Private Client team advises individuals, families, trusts, businesses and investment structures on a wide range of complex tax matters. The client portfolio includes entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses and internationally mobile families.
The successful individual will work closely with senior stakeholders and benefit from strong progression opportunities within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead client relationships with a proactive and commercial advisory approach
- Advise entrepreneurial and private clients on dual US / UK tax matters
- Produce written advisory reports covering areas such as:
- Pre-arrival / pre-departure planning
- Residency and domicile matters
- Succession planning
- Trust structuring
- Pension planning
- Cross-border asset holding structures
- Provide technical advice on US / UK treaty matters
- Advise on complex foreign tax credit scenarios
- Review and sign out complex US and UK tax compliance work
- Work collaboratively with lawyers, wealth managers, family offices and other advisers
- Support business development and help win new work
- Present internally and externally on relevant private client tax matters
- Mentor and develop junior team members
- Support process improvement and the continued growth of the practice
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate is likely to offer:
- US Enrolled Agent (EA) qualification as a minimum
- ATT / CTA or equivalent UK tax qualification preferred
- Strong experience advising UHNW / HNW individuals, families and family offices
- Excellent working knowledge of both US and UK private client tax
- Experience producing high-quality written advisory reports
- Ability to manage complex projects with senior stakeholder involvement
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Commercial mindset with a track record of winning or developing work
- Passion for building and contributing to a growing specialist practice
