The rapidly growing Private Client Team manages the funds, businesses, and trusts of individuals, families, and entrepreneurs. In this team, you'll tackle a range of technical challenges while building meaningful client relationships — becoming a trusted advisor who understands and supports clients’ personal and business ambitions.

Role Overview
Based in the Southampton office, this role sits within the Private Client Services team and involves delivering full UK tax compliance and advisory services to a broad client base — including regional, London-based, and international clients.

You’ll initially manage a portfolio split between compliance and advisory work, with a longer-term focus on advisory. Clients may include HNWIs, entrepreneurs, OMBs, trusts, private equity individuals, and those with varied asset bases.

You’ll support partners, directors, and the wider management team with client work and operational matters and participate in ad hoc projects. Business development and involvement in proposals will be part of the role, with opportunities to collaborate with tax specialists nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a key contact for clients, alongside the partner, ensuring timely responses and regular updates.
- Take responsibility for the full delivery of projects within your client portfolio.
- Offer practical, commercially minded technical advice on complex tax matters.
- Manage client portfolios effectively, including billing and cash flow.
- Review junior team members’ work.
- Liaise with HMRC as needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures and budget requirements.
- Highlight risks and opportunities to senior management.
- Support senior leadership in both client and team management.
- Help with recruitment, development, and performance reviews.
- Deliver training and provide on-the-job feedback to junior staff.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities.
- Assist with proposal preparation and intermediary engagement.
- Maintain strong relationships at all client levels.
- Act as a liaison with internal specialist teams.
- Contribute to internal training sessions and team meetings.
- Take initiative but consult colleagues and leaders on complex or risk-related matters.

Requirements
- Degree-level education and/or CTA/ACA qualification (or equivalent).
- Demonstrable post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical expertise in private client tax.
- Proven ability to guide, train, and mentor junior team members.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to identify and support business opportunities.
- Personal accountability and sound decision-making.
