Audit Assistant Manager

Salary – £46,000 – £50,000

📝 Role Summary 
AJ Chambers is partnered with a leading firm of chartered accountants and business advisers, serving a diverse client base across the UK and internationally. They are looking for an Audit Semi Senior to join their Cambridge team. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses, AIM-listed companies, and not-for-profit organisations across multiple sectors, including technology and professional services. Turnovers typically range from £20m to £40m, with some up to £80m, offering variety, challenge, and the chance to learn from a highly talented team.

🔑 Key Responsibilities 

• Plan audit engagements and lead onsite teams (c. 70% of time) 
• Prepare accounts and draft tax computations (c. 30% of time) 
• Liaise with clients to resolve queries, escalating complex matters where necessary 
• Review team members’ work before passing to the manager 
• Coach and provide feedback to juniors, supporting their development 
• Manage assignment time effectively in line with budgets 

✅ Desirable Experience 

• Part-qualified or fully qualified (ACA, ICAS, CA, or ACCA) 
• Experience planning and leading external audits in a UK accountancy practice 
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS 102 
• Client-facing experience and good communication skills 
• Familiarity with audit software (Caseware preferred) and Microsoft Office
