Semi-Senior Accountant
Full Time – Permanent
Location: London Colney – Hybrid (Office/Home)
Salary: £28k–£33k depending on experience
AJ Chambers are currently supporting a family-run practice who are seeking a Semi-Senior Accountant to join their team based in London Colney, Hertfordshire.

• Office closed between Christmas and New Year (normally 3–4 days, which are not deducted from staff holiday entitlement)
• Work from home (WFH) for two days per week is available, with Monday being an office day for all staff (after completion of the probation period, which is six months, though this can be discussed earlier during the three-month review)

Main Duties
• As a Semi-Senior Accountant, you will manage your own client base alongside a variety of other work
• Build relationships with clients, supporting and understanding their specific needs to help them get the most out of their business
• Oversee bookkeeping, VAT returns, management accounts, statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, and personal tax returns for your clients (amongst other tasks as required)
With a combination of performing the work yourself, as you progress within the company you will have the opportunity to work towards reviewing work completed by others.
Requirements
• 2–3 years’ practice experience
• Good communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships
• Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met
• Strong use of Excel and Word
• Competent use of Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
• 5 GCSEs at grades 4–9 (or equivalent), including Mathematics
• 3 A-levels at grades A–C (or equivalent)
• Experience in both personal and corporate tax and accounting
Desirable
• ACA or ACCA part-qualified or fully qualified
• Ability to advise clients on different business structures and the relative benefits of each
• Experience reviewing others’ work
• Experience assisting with the training and development of other staff members
• Experience using TaxCalc and SmartVault
