AJ Chambers are working with a Top North London Law Firm who have a great opportunity for a Part time Senior HR Manager to join the team

Duties will include:

Strategic HR leadership

  • Developing and implementing the firm’s HR strategy in alignment with business objectives
  • Advising senior leadership on HR trends, workforce planning, and organisational development
  • Driving initiatives that enhance employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)

Employee relations

  • Serving as a trusted adviser to partners and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment law compliance
  • Handling complex employee relations cases with professionalism and discretion
  • Promoting a positive workplace culture, addressing conflicts proactively
  • Conducting investigations for disciplinary and grievance processes and assisting with the drafting of all correspondence relating to formal processes
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations

Administration

  • Overseeing all of the HR admin aspects of the role including the entire employment lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews and retention, leavers process
  • Overseeing all changes to T&C's documentation and processes
  • Overseeing the firms HR database (audits, inputting, updating)
  • Managing the salary review process
  • Managing payroll, benefits administration, and HR systems in partnership with the Accounts team

Talent and performance management

  • Overseeing all aspects of recruitment
  • Working closely with partners and providing expertise on talent management, performance-related and promotion processes
  • Developing the performance evaluation process to ensure that it is consistent across the firm
  • Meeting with new joiners to get feedback, analysing the feedback and proposing process efficiencies where necessary
  • Keeping up-to-date with all staff movements (leavers, joiners, etc.) so that resource requirements are planned for
  • Involvement in performance improvement plans where appropriate

Change Management

  • Supporting the firm through periods of growth, mergers, or restructuring, ensuring smooth transitions
  • Fostering a culture of adaptability and innovation

Learning and development

  • Create and improve our learning development programs and initiatives to ensure development of new staff and those in training positions
  • Create initiatives to ensure better internal training and knowledge sharing throughout the firm.
  • Designing and implementing training programmes tailored to the needs of legal and non-legal staff
  • Monitoring and evaluating training effectiveness to ensure ROI

Data & insight

  • Collating data and producing analysis and metric/KPI reporting after receiving guidance on the recommend software that can be used to analyse data and create reports
  • Monitoring and reviewing attrition data on a quarterly basis, reporting back to the partnership on trends and insights
  • Analysing sickness absence and update absent analysis spreadsheet
  • Producing management information (standard and bespoke reports)
  • Collate statistical information and report on exit information, including trends analysis across practice groups and where appropriate, conduct exit interviews using relevant software to analyse data
  • Provide monthly and ad hoc reports on quantitative and qualitative data as required, providing analysis as appropriate and ensure integrity of data as required using relevant software to analyse data

Employee experience

  • Developing company policies and ensuring that all company policies and processes are consistently applied and that all HR queries are dealt with promptly and reliably
  • Organising the induction process, reviewing materials regularly and ensure they are up to date, meeting and greeting new joiners on their first or second day in the office and covering the HR processes with them.
  • Supporting and developing the promotion of wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion across the business, as well as supporting various projects for employees.
  • Identifying training and development options for people within the firm
  • Conducting exit interviews and collating feedback
  • Monitoring and reporting on sickness absence, manage occupational health referrals and conduct return to work or absence review meetings as appropriate

HR guidance and advice

  • Building and developing relationships, identifying process improvements and efficiencies where necessary advising staff on policies and procedures helping to ensure consistency of practice and application of policy across the firm providing confidential guidance and career counselling following the relevant training and guidance from a professional and/or a partner.
  • Providing HR operational service to staff
  • Answering ad-hoc internal/external HR queries
  • Supporting individual employees on day-to-day HR issues/ policy queries (e.g. Maternity/paternity leave, flexible working, salary and benefits queries)

Office support

  • Office support required across all offices where needed including Line time support, support with procurement of services and office management
  • A requirement for this role will be to do 2 days per week in the office rotating between all four offices.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Experience: 7+ years in HR management, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Education: CIPD Level 5 qualification or above
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment law, HR best practices, and the challenges of the legal sector
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
  • Technology: Proficiency in HR-related tools; tech-savvy with an eye for innovation
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and manage teams effectively

The role will offer a salary of c£75k full time equivalent and excellent benefits package
