AJ Chambers are working with a top Regional Law firm who are seeking an organised, credible and engaging Learning & Development Manager to lead and develop learning across a professional services organisation. This is a varied, hands-on role combining learning strategy, programme design, facilitation and day-to-day administration.

Working as part of a small HR team and reporting to the HR Director, you will partner with senior leaders, managers and colleagues across the organisation to identify development needs, deliver engaging learning programmes and support career progression.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Strategy & Development

  • Develop and deliver an annual learning plan aligned with business priorities and career development.
  • Lead training needs analysis, using performance reviews, business objectives, feedback and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and coordinate cost-effective learning solutions including workshops, coaching, mentoring, digital learning and external providers.
  • Manage learning budgets and supplier relationships.

Early Careers & Progression

  • Lead development programmes for trainees, apprentices and other early-career employees.
  • Create structured learning pathways supporting professional, technical, commercial and interpersonal skills.
  • Support internal career progression through development plans, mentoring and supervised learning.
  • Coordinate early careers events and attraction activity.

Leadership & Professional Development

  • Coordinate organisation-wide programmes covering induction, leadership, management, client service and commercial skills.
  • Design and deliver workshops, briefings and induction sessions.
  • Support managers in embedding learning through coaching, mentoring and practical application.
  • Contribute to performance, objective-setting and career progression processes.

Compliance & Digital Learning

  • Coordinate mandatory and regulatory training, ensuring accurate records, completion tracking and reporting.
  • Develop and manage digital learning resources and role-based learning plans.
  • Monitor engagement and identify opportunities to improve learning provision.

Administration & Evaluation

  • Manage the learning calendar and end-to-end course administration.
  • Maintain accurate training records, budgets, provider information and reporting.
  • Evaluate learning through feedback, participation and measurable outcomes.
  • Provide management information and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong experience in learning and development, talent development or programme management.
  • Excellent organisation and project management skills.
  • Experience designing learning programmes, pathways or workshops for different career stages.
  • Confident facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience using learning platforms and Microsoft 365.
  • A professional, discreet and learner-focused approach.
  • Relevant L&D, coaching, facilitation or CIPD qualification, or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Experience within professional services, legal or another regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting trainees, apprentices or early-career programmes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory or compliance learning requirements.

Working Arrangements

The role will support colleagues across multiple offices and requires regular collaboration with teams across the organisation. Some travel and occasional flexibility outside standard hours may be required for learning and careers events.
