Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Corporate Tax Senior Manager (Compliance) to provide leadership within our tax team. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping departmental strategy, driving operational excellence, and supporting the development of a high-performing team.

The role involves managing a substantial portfolio of corporate clients, overseeing UK corporate tax compliance matters, and supporting selected advisory and international tax projects where required.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience, together with demonstrable experience managing and developing teams.

You will take ownership of a portfolio of complex corporate clients, with responsibility for delivering high-quality compliance services and maintaining strong client relationships.

This role also requires active involvement in leadership responsibilities, including:

  • Supporting departmental strategy and operational objectives
  • Coaching and developing qualified and part-qualified staff
  • Managing performance and identifying training opportunities
  • Assisting with recruitment and workload management
  • Overseeing compliance deadlines and quality standards
  • Supporting commercial performance and profitability

You will help foster a collaborative and positive working environment, promoting continuous improvement across the wider team.

The role requires strong organisation, project management, and communication skills, together with up-to-date technical knowledge of UK corporate tax and related compliance matters. You will also act as a technical resource on complex compliance issues, including those with international aspects.

In addition, you will contribute to internal strategic initiatives, client service improvements, and the development of new service offerings to support the growth of the tax practice.

What We Are Looking For

  • Professionally qualified (ICAEW, ACCA and/or CTA)
  • At least 3 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Strong experience managing and developing teams
  • Excellent UK corporate tax compliance knowledge
  • Experience reviewing corporation tax and VAT returns
  • Understanding of international tax matters, including:
    • Tax treaties
    • Withholding taxes
    • Transfer pricing
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities for additional services and business development
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Team-oriented approach and positive attitude

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Support and lead departmental meetings
  • Assist with departmental strategy and operational initiatives
  • Manage appraisals and performance reviews
  • Support training, coaching, and development of team members
  • Assist with recruitment and team resource planning
  • Promote collaboration across teams and departments

Client Service & Technical Work

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate tax compliance clients
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients
  • Review corporation tax and VAT returns
  • Review employment tax filings, including:
    • STBV
    • P11Ds
    • PSA returns
    • ERS returns
  • Support and lead special compliance and project work
  • Provide technical guidance on complex UK corporate tax matters
  • Ensure compliance standards and deadlines are maintained

Commercial & Operational Responsibilities

  • Manage WIP, billing, accruals, and deferrals
  • Support departmental sales and growth initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and projects
  • Contribute to new business proposals and engagement letters
  • Support management of departmental systems and software
  • Review and approve timesheets where applicable
  • Ensure CPD and training records are maintained appropriately
