Corporate Tax Manager
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000
Working pattern: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home)
Overview
This is a strategic Corporate Tax Manager opportunity designed as part of a long-term succession plan, offering a clear pathway to Director and ultimately Partnership.

Purpose of the Role
The role bridges the gap between audit-related tax work and complex advisory projects. Over time, the successful candidate will:

- Support the growth and evolution of the corporate tax function

Key Responsibilities
Advisory & Complex Compliance
- Group restructures and reorganisations
- International tax matters
- Transaction advisory (e.g. acquisitions, disposals, management buyouts, employee ownership transitions)
- Shareholding exemptions, capital allowances, loss utilisation, and group relief
- Strategic tax planning for growing businesses
Audit Collaboration
- Provide corporate tax input during audit engagements
- Attend planning meetings
- Review tax-sensitive areas of financial statements
- Deliver guidance and training to audit teams
Corporate Structuring & Transactions
- Advise on tax-efficient structuring
- Support due diligence processes
- Address treatment of intangible assets and goodwill
International Tax
- Controlled foreign company rules and overseas structuring
- Double tax relief and treaty claims
- Permanent establishment risk assessments
Tax Risk Management
- Support with tax authority enquiries and disclosures
- Corporate interest restriction and senior accounting officer compliance
- Tax governance and risk mitigation
Capital Allowances & Incentives
- Identify and optimise claims
- Advise on relevant exemptions and reliefs
- Support planning around investment incentives
Client Relationship Management
- Build trusted relationships with clients
- Develop and grow a personal advisory portfolio over time
Process Improvement & Training
- Enhance tax advisory processes
- Strengthen collaboration between audit and tax teams
- Support internal training and knowledge sharing
Team Development
- Contribute to coaching and mentoring as the team grows
Candidate Profile
You are likely seeking greater ownership, influence, and a clear progression pathway.
Essential:
- Professionally qualified (e.g. CTA or equivalent)
- Strong corporate tax advisory experience
- Knowledge of group structures, transactions, and international tax
- Experience reviewing work and supporting junior staff
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly
- Commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
- Motivated, ambitious, and forward-looking
Desirable:
- Dual qualification (e.g. CTA with ACA or ACCA)
- Exposure to specialist sectors or complex accounting environments
