Job Description: Tax Assistant Manager
Department: Private Client Services (PCS)

Job Purpose
To provide personal tax compliance and advisory services to a portfolio of private clients, including high net worth individuals, business owners, and athletes/entertainers. The role will include supporting international tax planning for individuals moving to or from the UK, remote workers, dual and non-resident individuals, including treaty analysis and planning, and assisting clients qualifying for the Foreign Income and Gains (FIG) regime.
Reporting Lines and Relationships
- Reporting to Tax Managers, Senior Managers, Directors, and Partners.
- Supported by Tax Seniors, Tax Assistants, and the Client Service Team.
- Responsible for mentoring and supporting junior team members, including Tax Advisers and Tax Seniors.
Key Responsibilities
Client Portfolio Management
- Manage your own portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring all compliance and advisory work is completed accurately and on time.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, delivering high-quality service and building strong, long-term relationships.
- Conduct client meetings and handle new client enquiries professionally and effectively.
Compliance and Review
- Prepare and carry out first reviews of personal tax returns and related compliance work.
- Review work prepared by junior team members and provide feedback and guidance.
- Ensure all filing deadlines and compliance obligations are met.
Advisory and Technical
- Provide personal tax advisory services to clients across a range of areas.
- Undertake technical tax research to support client advice and provide detailed analysis.
- Proactively identify tax planning opportunities and advisory projects to support client needs and develop technical expertise.
- Assist clients with international tax matters, including residence issues, treaty interpretation, and FIG regime considerations.
Team Leadership and Development
- Delegate work effectively across the team.
- Mentor and support the development of Tax Advisers and Tax Seniors.
- Contribute to training and knowledge sharing within the team.
Business Development and Financial Management
- Prepare fee quotes and manage work in line with billing targets.
- Prepare monthly fee reports and work towards individual billing and invoicing targets.
- Assist with proposals, marketing activities, and client events as required.
- Build and maintain relationships with overseas advisers and network partners to deliver coordinated client service.
- Attend external conferences and networking events to develop professional connections.
General
- Assist with administrative and client-related tasks as required.
- Undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by senior management.
- Occasional travel to other offices may be required.
