AJ Chambers is delighted to announce the sponsorship of Leigh Folk Festival 2025, the largest free folk festival in the UK. This year’s festival, taking place from 26th – 29th June promises another vibrant celebration of music, community and creativity. The event not only showcases outstanding musical talent but also brings people together to celebrate culture, creativity and community spirit.
A Celebrated Cultural Tradition
Now in its 34th year, the Leigh Folk Festival has become a cherished part of local tradition, drawing thousands of visitors each year. With performances spread across three stages, the festival features an extensive line-up that includes regional talent, up-and-coming artists and internationally acclaimed acts. Beyond music, visitors can enjoy market stalls, workshops, street food, open-mic competitions and a variety of family-friendly activities, all of which contribute to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere.
“Leigh Folk Festival has grown from humble beginnings in 1992 into the UK’s largest free folk festival, all while staying true to its roots in community spirit. Over the decades, it has evolved into a much-loved gathering that welcomes thousands, celebrating everything from traditional ballads to boundary-pushing experimental sounds—always grounded in the rich local culture.
After a fallow year in 2024 to rebuild our team and finances, we’re proud to return in 2025 with renewed purpose. The festival remains a key event in the Southend calendar, bringing people together across generations and backgrounds, supporting emerging artists, championing local businesses, and offering a vibrant shared space for creativity and connection. However, in a world where costs are increasing and funding harder to come by, its future will rely on the generosity of the public and local business.”

A Natural Partnership
Supporting this iconic event aligns perfectly with our values at AJ Chambers. We’re committed to strengthening community ties and promoting creativity wherever we can. The festival offers a platform for artistic collaboration and provides inclusive cultural experiences for people of all ages.
“Supporting the community and the arts is something I know our chairman Andrew Hilliard and Managing Director James Gosling are passionate about. With the charity work that the company does, including World Cup on Sea which organised by our Operations Director Jason Reynolds and the Essex Big Bash charity cricket tournament organised by Andrew and Associate Director Stuart Whiter. So, supporting this Leigh Folk Festival is something that falls in perfectly with the company ethos.”

Supporting the Arts and Community in Challenging Times
At AJ Chambers, we believe that strong communities are built on connection and shared experience. Leigh Folk Festival is more than just a music event- it’s a celebration of community spirit, providing a platform that encourages creative collaboration and offers a space where people of all ages can come together.
With government funding for the arts increasingly under pressure, independent events like Leigh Folk Festival face several financial challenges. Rising operational costs threaten their ability to remain accessible. Our sponsorship plays a vital role in helping the festival combat these economic challenges by remaining free and community-focused, ensuring everyone can participate regardless of economic background. It’s part of our wider commitment to preserving and nurturing local culture.
Investing in Cultural Growth
Leigh Folk Festival is more than a weekend celebration- it’s a cornerstone of the local cultural landscape. By spotlighting emerging artists and independent voices, it fosters creativity and strengthens the identity of the local community. Supporting the festival is an investment in a thriving, inclusive arts scene that not only enriches lives but also contributes significantly to the local economy and tourism in Leigh-on-Sea.
At AJ Chambers, we’re committed to meaningful, long-term community engagement. Our support helps secure the future of the festival, enabling it to provide opportunities for new generations of performers, volunteers and audiences. In doing so, we help sustain its growth and relevance in challenging times, allowing it to evolve and inspire, whilst remaining free, for years to come.
Get Involved and Show Support
Leigh Folk Festival is made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers who generously devote their time, skills and passion to bring the event to life each year. From organising stages and booking artists to managing fundraising. As the festival grows, so does the need for helping hands.
