VAT Manager
The Role
The role will provide an opportunity for the individual to work across a wide range of clients and individuals advising on many different aspects of VAT advisory, dispute resolution, transaction and liability matters.
Advice is provided through face to face meetings and via written correspondence to clients and the successful candidate will also be able to support internal partners and staff on a variety of different VAT issues.
This will be a challenging and interesting role dealing with representatives from different clients directly on a day to day basis. Strong interpersonal skills are therefore essential for the role as, while secondary to technical ability initially, they are critical to the development of the role.
With these in mind, the successful candidate will possess the following:

The successful candidate would join a team of seven members of staff nationally; three partners, one director (based in Bristol), one senior manager, one assistant manager, and one senior. The group also has access to support staff.

Candidates will ideally be CTA qualified or be studying towards the final stages of the qualification. In addition, the candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be confident in dealing with partners and clients, with the ability to work under pressure in a friendly environment.
The ideal candidate must have strong technical skills and experience and have a detailed up to date knowledge of VAT issues. Particular experience of land and property, partial exemption and business/non-business apportionments would be desirable.
They will also be pro-active in their approach to problem solving and technical research. Strong report writing skills and the ability to express ideas and simplify complex issues are essential, together with computer skills, particularly Excel.

PERSONAL TAX SENIOR
PURPOSE OF ROLE
To manage a varied personal tax portfolio dealing with all routine personal tax compliance, preparation of tax returns and ad hoc advisory work. The role requires an individual who takes ownership/responsibility of the portfolio under the guidance of a Supervisor/Manager.
JOB CONTENT
Dealing with correspondence from clients and HMRC, via letters, email and telephone
Completion of personal tax returns, liaising with clients/third parties to collate information,
Data preparation and data entry, preparation of simple income/expenditure/letting accounts
Excellent understanding of UK tax compliance cycle and planning for key deadlines/setting targets
Checking tax statements of accounts - advising tax payments and payments on account
Electronic filing of tax returns
Checking tax statements of accounts
Assisting with P11D delivery
Assisting at client meetings
Dealing with new client set up procedures, letters of engagement and client ID procedures
ESSENTIAL
Understands the personal tax compliance cycle (with around 3 years` experience)

Practical experience in Share schemes, residency/remittance/split year, capital gains tax, trust & estates, EIS/SEIS, pension charges
DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of CCH personal tax software

VAT Manager
Role Overview
This role will provide VAT compliance and advisory services for a wide range of corporate clients in the FTSE100, FTSE250, AIM and private equity backed and privately owned businesses. UK VAT experience/knowledge is essential.
The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of existing clients and assist with the development of targets in order to ensure the continued growth of the business. You will also provide assistance to senior members of staff in both client work and in the management of the group and on occasions the practice.
Key to the role is for the individual to be able to pro-actively manage their own workload, communicating with senior managers / directors / partners on a regular basis. This is essential due to the size and nature of the team. Furthermore, the individual will be expected to be able to consider and highlight further opportunities to develop new work.
