Accounts - Accounts Semi Senior - North London

£30,000 - £34,000

An experienced semi senior to join a dynamic team to assist the managers and directors. The candidate will be joining a growing practice with plenty of opportunities to progress.

You will be required to complete end to end accounting tasks for a range of SME businesses, using industry leading tools.

The responsibilities are as below, but are not limited to:


  • Preparing management accounts and month end reconciliations, including commentary
  • Drafting year end accounts for Limited and LLP's from start to finish under FRS 102, Section 1A and FRS 105, ready for client and management review
  • Preparing of service charge accounts
  • Preparing extended trial balances including the final year end trial balance
  • Preparing cash flow statements.
  • Running the monthly payroll for clients, including RTI submissions and pension contribution calculations
  • Preparing corporation tax computation calculations and basic tax planning
  • Dealing with the preparation and completion of VAT returns, including EC Sales and Intrastat returns
  • Maintain records of our clients using accounting software packages including Xero and Sage 50
  • Use cloud accounting tools to process transactions, prepare and post journals, update all ledgers, perform bank reconciliations ready for the monthly reporting process
  • Liaising with clients on any queries
  • Making journal entries for all receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Undertake financial close procedures for the month end, including inter-company balance reconciliation
  • Apply and understand the client to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately, under the correct accounting standard and highlight unusual transactions to senior members of the team
  • Apply a basic knowledge of rules and regulations followed by UK SME's including tax requirements, company secretarial and a general commercial awareness
  • Work as part of a team to provide ad-hoc accounting assistance and ensure clients receive an excellent service

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3-5 years' experience within practice
  • AAT qualified or ACCA part qualified
  • Must be highly organised, proactive and a self-starter
  • Able to prioritise workload and be self-sufficient.

The Role

  • Assists in the planning, execution and finalisation of all areas of the audit assignment, including statutory and CASS audits, for manager or partner review, seeking input for areas of concern and judgement.
  • Identifies risk matters and raises with a manager and/or partner, while exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
  • Active engagement with senior client staff in order to gain a good understanding of their business and ensure the efficient execution of the audit
  • Take primary responsibility for monitoring progress against budget, and when the actual differs from the budget then gain a full understanding for the Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with internal (audit methodology and risk management) and external (regulatory) requirements
  • Supervise, coach and develop junior members of staff within teams, on client premises and in the office.
  • Project manage the global engagement and gain experience of systems and controls testing

Key Requirements

  • Studying towards ACCA/ACA or equivalent
  • Experience in IFRS/UK GAAP

Accounts - AAT Qualified Semi-Senior Accountant

The firm have developed a specialism within the media and music sector but have a wide variety of clients which also include property, retail, sports and the professional services.

Due to growth and expansion, they are seeking a newly or recently qualified Audit and Accounts Senior to join their hard-working but sociable team. The main focus of the role will involve the audit of clients' accounts (either on-site or at clients premises) and the preparation of accounts from books and records supplied to the firm.
