Tax Senior/Manager
You would be working within an established Chartered Accountancy, with 5 partners and 65 staff. Our client base includes a significant number of owner-managed businesses including partnerships, sole traders and private companies as well as private clients and high net worth individuals.
We are a friendly and sociable firm, within a lovely location running alongside the river.
We are based in the centre of this beautiful town, with its castle, cobbled streets, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. There are also many retail franchises with their shops here, and boutiques.
Main objective: to hold a dual role covering personal tax and corporate tax.
Duties and responsibilities:
The individual's skills should extend to full portfolio management and acting as the primary contact for clients, dealing with ad-hoc technical issues as they arise and spotting any planning opportunities relevant to the client Correspondence (written and verbal) with clients, HMRC and other third parties Preparation of P11ds, PSAs and other end of year returns Assisting managers and partners with ad hoc planning and advisory projects Reviewing the tax work of more junior team members and assisting with technical queries from the team as they arise Dealing with HMRC enquiries for individuals Dealing with all types of Corporate and Personal taxes as required i.e. Capital gains tax, Inheritance tax, National Insurance, Corporation Tax, Capital allowances, Income Tax, Trust taxation, Employee taxation, Overseas issues and minor VAT issues Dealing with any internal staff queries arising on procedural and technical matters. Contributing to the identification of technical areas and changes to legislation that are relevant to the Tax Department and also to the accounts and audit department, as required. Identifying particular areas which should be brought to client attention. Working closely with the Tax Managers and Tax Partner to ensure the Tax Department is at the forefront of Tax Compliance and planning matters Dealing with corporation tax compliance matters such as reviewing computations and advisory work. Dealing with ad-hoc advisory matters.
Desirable experience:
CTA qualified individual. Other relevant experience will be considered. Experience with corporation tax compliance and managing a personal tax portfolio. Advisory experience covering topics such as EIS, EMI, R & D, succession planning and remuneration planning
The successful candidate will be responsible for their own portfolio of clients, as well as supporting other members of our 10-strong tax team. They will be expected to work without the need for constant supervision and to show initiative in dealing with clients' affairs.
It is likely that the successful candidate will have at least 2-3 years' current experience of working with tax compliance and preferably have gained some experience of working in the tax department of an accountancy practice.
