You will be a key member of our expanding Employment Tax team and will assist the Head of Employment Tax to further develop and deliver Employment Tax Services across the firm, working with clients in a range of industries.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development of Employment Tax Services to clients which will include advising clients on all aspects of employment tax compliance issues and queries, carrying out a range of compliance risk reviews and preparing reports of recommendations, carrying out the manager review of the PSA submissions, supporting clients with HMRC Inspections, making disclosures to HMRC, and advising on salary sacrifice arrangements

Private Client Tax Senior

Role Profile

Purpose of role:

To ensure that the annual tax compliance work is completed and planning opportunities are identified for a portfolio of mixed clients.

Key responsibilities:

  • Delivering high quality service to clients
  • Responsible for a mixed portfolio of clients which may including sole traders, partners, partnerships or small corporates and trusts
  • Liaising with third parties and the clients in respect of the collation of tax return information
  • Ensuring administration of the portfolio is completed including all aspects of compliance, accounts, tax returns and tax computations
  • Ensuring clients are notified of their tax liabilities in a timely manner
  • Drafting correspondence for a managers review
  • Identifying possible planning possibilities, e.g. beneficial elections and claims
  • Answering client ad-hoc questions and enquiries in respect of the clients£ personal tax affairs

Key Competencies:

  • Planning and Organising: must be able to plan workload in order to prioritise work to meet conflicting deadlines and cope with pressure.
  • Written and verbal communication: good written communication skills are necessary to draft correspondence with clients and HMRC to explain technical issues in an easily understandable manner.
  • Customer Focus: meeting deadlines and responding to client needs.
  • Team work: provide link in chain to supervise staff members below and support managers above.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA) and/or ATT qualified

Key Experience/Skills:

  • Significant experience gained within a professional services firm.
  • Good knowledge of private tax compliance and possibly some exposure to planning/advisory work.
  • Ability to write letters explaining planning issues as well as verbal communication skills.
