Role Description


As a Private Client Supervisor you will assist with providing compliance, planning and advisory services to a wide range of clients including individuals, sole traders, partnerships, employers, trusts and estates.  You must have significant tax return preparation experience and have used CCH. 




  • To contribute to the provision of an excellent service to a diverse range of clients, providing support to managers and partners, and supervising junior staff.
  • Complete tax returns and support accounts for the managers
  • Monitor work to ensure deadlines are met
  • Assist the managers with planning and advisory work
  • Be willing to undertake work that is very interesting and varied, but at particular times of the year is also very time pressured
  • Help the managers develop the services on offer

  • Preferably CTA/ATT qualified with 2/3 years post qualification private client tax experience, or qualified by experience

    AJ Chambers are currently recruiting for a well-established Construction Company based in Canvey Island, Essex.

    Our client is looking for an Accounts and Administration Assistant for three days per week in their busy office. This is a permanent position with working hours between 10:00 to 15:00, with some flexibility and days to be agreed upon.

    We are looking for someone willing to learn and progress their accounts knowledge to eventually understand the full Management Accounting processes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Daily input of accounts data using Sage 50 Accounts (knowledge of Xero would be useful but not essential). A basic understanding of double-entry accounts processes. Microsoft Excel – Proficient in the use of existing spreadsheets and ability to set up new templates using formulas. Ability to convert CSV docs to excel for bulk data entry import.     Role Overview

    You will work as part of the established Corporate team based on a mixed portfolio of clients across a range of industries/sectors which will see you performing the accurate and efficient processing of client accounting information. This will be supervised to begin with but that will become more remote as your experience grows. The role demands the ability to speak to colleagues, clients and other contacts in a mature and professional manner whilst ensuring to maintain the companies’ high standards

    Principle Responsibilities:

The Firm are a specialist Tax Consultants and Chartered Accountants. They provide expert tax advice and the general business support their clients require, particularly for growing companies and their stakeholders.

The client base is principally high-tech companies based in London which are raising funds to develop their product and to prepare for the next stage of their growth, some perhaps to Unicorn status. The Firm continues to win these exciting clients and is expanding. They are essentially a London Firm, but based in Sevenoaks to provide a better work/life balance.

Overall job purpose

To provide management of a portfolio of clients with complex tax affairs, including high net worth individuals, sole traders and non UK domiciled individuals, ensuring a high level of client service including identifying and advising on tax planning opportunities. To deal with client relationships in an efficient and effective manner and to help ensure that clients receive a quality service in all aspects.

The role requires experience in the provision of advisory services and the ability to work with senior and junior staff on a range of advisory projects, technical assignments and proposals. The role would also involve some business development.


  • To act as day-to-day point of contact for the client, and to practice the principles of excellent client service at all times.
  • To ensure that the assignment is undertaken in accordance with the pre-assignment instructions, and to carry out complex aspects of the assignment efficiently, thoroughly and in accordance with the firm£s procedures.

  • Work experience gained in a Personal Tax department within a professional practice environment dealing with high net worth clients in a compliance and advisory role.

  • Proven experience within an Advisory role (in addition to compliance work).
  • Experience of a client or customer facing environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience of using Digita software system is advantageous.
  • Experience in or exposure to Business Development within a Personal Tax context.
