As Personal Tax Manager within the tax team you will report into our Partners and Directors and will use your extensive experience to effectively deliver, manage and review products and services provided to clients, exceeding their expectations.

Main responsibilities:

  • Self-Assessment Tax Returns/Corporate Tax including preparation of year end self-assessment for business owners and private clients
  • Leading in planning workflow and timely delivery of Personal Tax service
  • Controlling workflow, understanding status of every job through management of Smartsheet and IRIS, ensuring they are always up to date
  • Reviewing workflow – providing additional services, identifying potential risks and providing feedback to the team for their personal development
  • WIP and Billing, reviewing teams timesheet weekly and raising invoices for clients that you are billing manager for

You will also be attending client meetings where appropriate, getting involved with your team, monitoring deadlines through IRIS and working with Senior Managers to ensure your clients, team and products are all being proactively developed.

To be successful in the Personal Tax Manager role you will have a hands on attitude with excellent client skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Personal Tax Manager in a busy, successful and commercially aware small to medium sized company
  • Ideally CTA qualification
  • Experience of successfully managing a team
  • Excellent numerical, literacy and communication skills and able to deal with colleagues and clients at all levels
  • Excellent software skills including: IRIS, Xero, Toley’s Library & Guidance, Smartsheet, Digital Corporation tax advanced and MS Office

Our Larkfield office requires a senior accountant to lead the existing portfolio and deal with the flow of new clients. We are looking for people who could be a business owner in the 5-10 year time frame.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Managing a portfolio of clients• Holding meetings with new and existing clients• Engaging with potential clients and managing communications to potential clients• Completing personal and corporate tax computations• Accounts preparation for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships• VAT return preparation and submission• Plus, other ad hoc duties

    What we need from you

    • ACA / ACCA / CTA qualified• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within an accountancy firm• Technically capable of producing statutory financial statements and managing information to a high standard• Experience of calculating and submitting client VAT returns• Experience of calculating and submitting corporation tax and personal tax• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal to facilitate client relationship development and be confident corresponding with clients and HMRC by email and over the phone

    The role:

    Complete standard income tax returns/corporate tax returns to required level Use standard letters where required Communicate effectively with colleagues and HM Revenue & Customs To regularly update appropriate tax spreadsheets / databases Ability to complete all work within the allocated time scales Complete time sheets accurately and on a timely basis

    To pass professional exams;

    Meet all deadlines and dates set by course provider Meet all requirements of the Rouse Partners training policy Plan study throughout the year producing consistent link results

    Requirements:

    300 UCAS Points or a minimum 2:2 degree Basic understanding of income tax and capital gains tax/corporation tax and business tax Effective use of IT including excel, tax packages (Pertax, CCH Gains, P11D software, Alpha tax), Outlook, CCH (additionally for Corporate Tax - Teammate and Viztopia) Ability to set up basic tax file Question to improve knowledge and understanding Able to communicate effectively face to face and over the phonewith clients and 3rd parties Self-motivated to study and puts concentrated effort into exam study and link exams Takes responsibility for work tasks and quality, managing own workload and deadlines under supervision Shows enthusiasm and commitment to undertaking tasks as required and see’s tasks through to completion Aware of cost implications of actions and meeting set budget requirements Maintains professional standards of conduct and practice Team player
