Solicitor – Real Estate (Private Developer team) – London, Top-Ranked team and firm
AJ Chambers are currently recruiting for a Solicitor to join the growing Private Developer team for our client, one of the UKs leading full-service, property law firm. Our client is highly ranked in the Legal 500 with an excellent reputation and diverse client base. They act for ultra-high net worth investors/family offices, major property companies, the country's top developers and funders and major corporate occupiers across a full range of real estate transactions, in all the major property sectors. Real Estate is the core of the firm and drives business across a number of practice areas.
The team and role:
The Private Developer team focus on acting for private residential developers, (a key component of the real estate client base) and as a result, you will have exposure to working for some of the largest property developers in the UK. The team is made up of 13 partners, a practice development lawyer, with additional support provided by a further 20 additional fee-earners, trainees and a paralegal. You'll be working as part of a truly supportive, friendly environment on significant property transactions.
Site Acquisition work, including:
• Assisting with site assembly and multi title due diligence and associated work streams including drafting complex reports on title.
• Drafting and negotiating (under supervision), conditional sale and purchase agreements and options (including planning conditions, vacant possession conditions etc).
• Advising on (under supervision), residential specific property issues such as leasehold reform, build safety, CML compliance etc.
• Advising and drafting (under supervision), on overage, legal charges, guarantees etc.
Disposal work, including:
• Assisting on the drafting and negotiating complex development agreements for bulk sales for build to rent, affordable transactions, and turn-key arrangements.
• Helping senior members of the team advise on section 5 and first rights of refusal.
• Commercial unit disposals.
• Reversion sales.
You will bring:
- Experience/understanding of private developer work; willingness to learn is a must
- A passion for people and providing first-class client care
- Ability to demonstrate expertise appropriate to your role and PQE level, with experience in commercial property work
- Private resi development experience is desirable however not essential
- You'll be keen to develop your commercial understanding and focused on gaining practical experience working on a breadth of matters
