The Role
Due to expansion and the need for capacity to drive new business, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced tax professional to provide high level support to our Partners in its Probate and Estate Administration division.
This is a specialist role which requires an individual who has a good understanding of Private Client and Trust taxation, with a focus on Inheritance tax.
This opportunity will ideally appeal to an ambitious CTA/STEP tax professional who is looking to become a key person in the firms Probate, Trust and Inheritance tax offerings. Above all, we are looking for candidates who have the experience in Trust and Inheritance tax matters and the right attitude to learn about our clients and push themselves forwards. They will need to apply themselves to every aspect of the portfolio and build long lasting client relationships; providing a personal yet professional service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
· Assuming day to day responsibility for the Firms Probate and Estate Administration work.
· Responsible for relevant Trust clients, providing advice and ensuring compliance obligations are met. Be the “go to” person within the firm for Trust advice, be that internal or external.
· Advising on Inheritance tax and planning to mitigate this.
· Advising on and preparing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
· Working successfully with other Managers and Partners across the firm to identify additional opportunities for new Probate, Estate and Trust work.
· Overseeing the scheduling and workflows on each of the jobs – ensuring all deadlines and targets are met.
· Responsible for monthly billing, managing WIP, billing targets and recoverability.
· Dealing with the ICAEW annual and ongoing compliance requirements.
Who You Are
· CTA or STEP qualified
· Holding (or looking to study towards) a Certificate in Probate and Estate Administration as well as Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
· Experience in dealing with Trusts and Inheritance tax matters
· Impeccable communication skills – both written and verbal – with the ability to provide a professional yet personal service and communicating technical information to clients in a simple, clear and effective manner.
· Ability to be able to demonstrate strong technical and commercial awareness.
· Excellent work ethic and desire to provide a superior client service.
· Desire to appreciate the bigger picture of the client’s affairs, including the ability to show initiative and find solutions to problems.
· Self-starter with the ability to work outside of defined parameters.
· Experience in reviewing the work of others – providing feedback and support where necessary.
· Experience of working to budgets and managing projects accordingly.
