Personal Tax Manager - Top 100 Firm

A great opportunity to join a highly prestigious Top 100 Firm as our client are looking for a Personal Tax Manager to join their team, and develop with the firm for the future.

The main focus of this role is to manage workflow of the tax team and to continuously review the current way of working and successfully implement improvements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage compliance workflow for the personal tax team
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients and support Partners with compliance work and ad hoc tax advisory work as required
  • Build long lasting client relationships
  • Ensure assignments are completed to a high standard, on time and within budgets
  • Liaise and negotiate with HMRC on behalf of clients
  • Responsible for billing own portfolio and managing own WIP
  • Review prepared tax returns
  • Input in to service and product pricing, including assisting with new client quotes
  • Liaise and collaborate with the compliance team and other departments on client matters, identifying cross-selling opportunities
  • Participate in business development and marketing activities including networking in the business community to develop own external profile and the firm’s brand
  • Contribute to winning new work by proactively managing existing clients and networking
  • Maintain up to date and relevant technical knowledge of the industry and national economic issues
  • Line manage, develop and mentor junior staff

The Ideal Candidate

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a Personal Tax focused role wihtin practice
  • CTA and/or STEP qualified
  • Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills
  • Previous managerial experience
  • Experience and willingness to network and develop new business leads

    The Candidate

    Between 1-5 years of payroll bureau or public practice experience would be ideal You will be computer literate and able to demonstrate strong organisational skills, along with accuracy and attention to detail Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are required as you will be dealing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels Ability to work to strict deadlines Knowledge of either STAR, Sage or Xero would be beneficial but not essential

    Assists in the planning, execution, and finalisation of all areas of the audit assignment, including statutory and CASS audits, for manager or partner review. Take primary responsibility for monitoring progress against budget, and when the actual differs from the budget then gain a full understanding for the Manager. Active engagement with senior client staff in order to gain a good understanding of their business and ensure the efficient execution of the audit Identifies risk matters and raises with a manager and/or partner, while exercising judgement within agreed parameters.     Your main focus in this role will be to provide the firm\'s clients with bookkeeping services and support. The main duties will include:
