AJ Chambers are currently working with a well established firm in Northampton who are looking to bring in an Accounts Semi Senior on a 6 month contract basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for any Semi Seniors to secure a temporary role and gain some experience whilst looking for a full time position.


Semi Senior Duties:

  • Producing Year End accounts for clients
  • Producing Management Accounts for clients
  • Bookkeeping Duties
  • Working with Seniors to ensure that jobs are completed on time.
  • Preparing VAT Returns

The Ideal candidate:

  • Previous background experience is essential
  • 1 - 2 years experience preparing limited company accounts
  • Working knowledge of FRS 102 1A and FRS 105
  • Experience in preparing tax computations for sole traders/limited companies
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Able to work from home and be organised
  • Be computer literate in excel, word and Outlook
  • Ideally have used Iris previously
  • Be able to adapt and cope with multi-tasking  
  • Ideally have experience in using cloud accounting software
  • Good Communication skills

    Administration of all stages of payroll processing for a portfolio of outsourced payrolls, including scanning information and monitoring the payroll processing cycle to ensure that information on payroll spreadsheets is maintained and kept up-to-date at all times. Ensuring that all information for payrolls is made available for processing by outsourced payroll providers. Preparation of letters, payroll reports and payslips for submission to clients. Liaising with clients and HM Revenue & Customs when dealing with payroll related queries. Assistance with billing, including preparation and submission of invoices to clients. General administrative duties, e.g. photocopying, scanning and filing, responding to letters and emails.

    What will you need to be successful in this role?

    Good working knowledge of payroll processing procedures and legislation Ability to communicate with both clients and HMRC Experience within a payroll office / bureau environment Use of own initiative to follow processes through Conversant with Sage Payroll software Experience using Xero is desirable IT Literate (MS Word, Outlook and, especially, Excel) Good attention to detail Organisation/time management Enthusiastic and willing to learn

    This is a position that can be adaptive to your expertise. In essence it is mixed, so wide knowledge is required. However, if you have certain strengths in certain areas, but are not as well versed in others, there is the freedom to tailor a portfolio around this. Your role within the firm will have a strong degree of autonomy, you will however have access to several junior members of staff who you will delegate work to. You will report directly to both the tax director and the partner.


    Mixed Tax Manager Responsibilities
