Manager of Tax Compliance Services. Day to day responsibility for the

management and supervision of all tax staff and related matters. To manage, control and develop a professional department, to work

with the Director and Tax Associate in providing effective and efficient services to clients. To

assist with the promotion of the Practice.

Main Objectives and Specific Responsibilities

  • The maintenance, development and supervision of deadline controls as relating to tax matters.
  • To ensure that tax work is completed in a timely manner to enhance the quality service provided to clients, with specific reference to the completion of SAR to avoid a winter build up.
  • To ensure that Directors are kept informed of any matters relating to their clients' tax affairs that they need to be aware of to enable the Director to fulfil their responsibilities to their clients.
  • To bring to the attention of Director and Staff changes in legislation and issues that affect the Practice and their clients.
  • To supervise and train tax staff where practical and appropriate.
  • To review tax work undertaken by tax staff and other team members.
  • To work with Director and other Managers to maintain and where appropriate develop systems to ensure the appropriate levels of tax compliance and service are provided within the Practice.
  • To draft articles and comments on tax matters for publication and be prepared to speak in public on tax matters if required.

  • Property Solicitor - Residential
    £20,000 - 25,000

    AJ Chambers are excited to be working alongside a growing and prestigious Law Practice who have a presence in both Essex and Suffolk who are looking to expand their residential property team with a qualified Solicitor.

    The role will offer the succesful candidate a clear progressive career opportunity with the potential of reaching Partner level.

    The main purpose of the role is to run a small to medium residential caseload (circa £180k fees per year) with the help of a full time paralegal. This is the complete opposite of a pile them high sell them cheap approach. The residential offering is an off shoot from the corporate client base.

    It would be a fantastic opportunity for someone who is fed up of the huge pressures residential solicitors have faced the last 2 years particularly working in larger firms who do mass conveyancing. This is a high quality service for a good price to a small number of clients.

    You must have proven experience of:

    registered and unregistered freehold and leasehold sales, purchases, mortgages/re-mortgages, transfers of equity (including matrimonial conveyancing), lease extensions, new builds, assignments of off-plan contracts, shared ownership and Right to Buy transactions.

    Candidates will need to be c5 years PQE but a client following is not essential for the role.

    A medium sized Law Firm based in the West End has clear expansion plans and is looking to grow the Private Client team with an experienced Paralegal.

    Ideally, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in that area but they would also consider a NQ for this role, with market salary to reflect.

    As a Private Client Paralegal you will be specialising within a wide range of estate administration work, grants of representation, distribution of estates, inheritance tax returns, applications for probate, liaising with the private property team, collating capital gains tax information and drafting income tax returns.

    This is a new, currently small, department who are looking for support for the current fee earner with a view to building/expanding so this is a graet time to join the practice.
