AJ Chambers is working with a Top 50 accountancy practice based in the City who are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join their growing team.

What will you be doing?

  • You will assist in managing all aspects of the Firm’s client payroll ensuring all payrolls are produced on a timely basis. Reporting to our client payroll manager, you will be efficient and adaptable with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • You will be responsible for the preparation and processing of a variety of frequency payrolls between 1-200 employees per client
  • You will assist with the coordination efforts between payroll and client contacts/departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data
  • You will establish/maintain employee records
  • You will review changes for proper authorisation and adhere to HMRC compliance
  • You will multi-task and prioritise client demands
  • You will communicate effectively with clients; raising queries, enhancing efficiency and building rapport
  • You will ensure clients produce payrolls on a timely basis and deadlines are met
  • You will ensure that all legislative requirements are complied with whilst maintaining payroll knowledge
  • You will act as a trusted advisor in all payroll matters

What is required of you?

  • The CIPP qualification or working towards would be ideal
  • A strong ability to use and understand the flow of transactions in standalone payroll systems
  • 12 - 18 months in a payroll function performing all payroll tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and diplomacy with all confidential information
  • The ability to use your initiative and take action without being asked
  • Confidence in your ability and the desire to achieve high quality work
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • A Good understanding of accountancy practices and the services offered to our clients
  • A professional, credible and confident communicator, with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels within the office and firm
  • Ability to work at a fast pace taking care with presentation at all times
  • Strong organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure

    Senior Finance Assistant

    We are delighted to be working with a family-owned and highly reputable commercial vehicle restoration business with three sites across Essex and Kent.

    They are currently looking to add a Senior Finance Assistant, on a full-time basis, to their current team of three. The role will mainly focus on Bank Reconciliations and Sales Ledger, however, there will also be exposed to the wider aspects of the finance function. The role will report directly to the Financial Controller and will be office based at the premises in Grays, Essex.

    Your Responsibilities

    You will be posting bank receipts and payments, and reconciliation of all bank accounts and credit cards across the Group of Companies. You will manage and reconcile the sales finance accounts. You will be posting and full reconciliation of intercompany loan accounts. You will submit sales invoices and statements to customers and manage customer relationships, assisting with arising queries. You will complete credit checks and set up new customer accounts. You’ll provide ongoing support to the Financial Controller.

    Your Skills and Experience

    You are a confident user of Microsoft Excel (Essential), Outlook and Word. You have excellent communication skills, with previous exposure to working with external parties. If you have experience using Sage 50, this would be highly beneficial. You have excellent organisational and time management skills. If you are AAT Qualified, this would be preferred.

    Remuneration and Rewards
