Quality Assurance Reviewer

SAVE

Quality Assurance Reviewer
ICAEW Professional Standards
£70,000 + £6,000 car allowance pa
Home-office based with regional travel. Nationwide vacancies.

The reviewer role is a senior position within ICAEW, working as part of a team of individuals dedicated to upholding quality and working to high standards. The core part of the role involves visiting ICAEW member firms. These are scheduled in advance by the support team, so that reviewers can spend most of their time out with the member firms, carrying out audit and other regulatory visits.

A typical audit visit includes the review of individual audits, understanding the firm£s approach, assessing the adequacy of audit evidence and discussing the overall quality of the audit with audit teams and senior firm management. You will also conduct monitoring reviews in other areas, including Practice Assurance and DPB (Investment Business). Reviewers see the visit through from start to finish and they are empowered to conclude visits with no action, or they may need to recommend further action, for example re-training, close ongoing support or disciplinary action.

Reviewers are based at home. Time at home will be built into a reviewer£s schedule for them to plan upcoming visits and to conclude recent visits. There is no expectation or requirement to go into an office when not performing on-site visits. Reviewers have control over the completion of their visits without the hassle of relying on anyone else and no-surprises from unexpected client deadlines. So, if you like the idea of task-driven project work, and are motivated by getting the job done, this could be the role for you.

  • The support
The culture is driven by consultation and collaboration, there is always help on hand, and a key part of the role of the management team is to be available for reviewers during their visits to assist with any technical or other issues. The induction training programme is second to none, designed to convert current practice staff into reviewers, teach any unfamiliar areas (eg, Practice Assurance) and to give new reviewers the confidence to carry out visits on their own through shadowing other reviewers and continued support from the rest of the team.
  • Key benefits
Reviewers most value the variety offered by the role. From working with the most senior partners in the largest firms through to sole practitioners, no day is the same. On top of this, the team is involved in delivering work under third party contracts, both in the UK and overseas, as well as other ad-hoc project work.
  • ICAEW values £" all staff are expected to work to their values
The 3 i£s £" Initiative Insight and Integrity
The 3 i£s are the values that drive our attitude and approach to working at ICAEW, along with our ways of working being agile, collaborative and innovative.
  • Initiative
Actively collaborating to identify needs and look for innovative solutions.
Bring together different groups and communities to work together.
Empowering people to be agile, so they can take ownership and harness the collective efforts of ICAEW in a flexible and responsive way.
  • Insight
Actively gathering insights to develop innovative and considered thought.
Collaborating with our networks to voice different perspectives and insights internally and externally to stimulate discussion and debate.
Being agile in finding new and timely ways to provide understanding and insight to our members, organisations and government.
  • Integrity
Acting with transparency, consistency and openness as Integrity underpins all activity we undertake.
Standing by your principles to adhere to the highest professional standards even when facing adversity.
Doing the right thing, even when no one is looking.
