The firm are a leading independent practice seeking an Accounts & Audit Senior to join their ambitious and growing practice.

The candidate will need to have experience in auditing but ideally is now looking to expand their knowledge into accounts preparation and become more rounded as an accountant and more experienced at dealing with the affairs of SMEs.

Ideally a newly qualified chartered accountant or trainee/part qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years audit experience having worked on numerous auditing assignments and dealing with consolidated accounts.

The candidate will be looking to broaden their experience through dealing with accounts preparation and the corporation tax affairs of SMEs but still have a strong inclination to dealing with statutory audits and the regulatory side of an accountancy practice.

The firm are growing significantly and attracting a broad range of businesses, most of whom are larger SME businesses who are not just looking for an excellent compliance service but also a high level of advisory work for tax efficiency and business growth.

The candidate will be expected to senior all the practice’s audits with a view to managing the assignments within the next two to three years. They will be expected to work with the senior management team in respect of the regulatory side of the practice, audit and money laundering regulations as well as other matters. The successful candidate will also get involved in the day-to-day operations of a number of the practice’s larger clients, working closely with the firm’s directors and senior management and building strong working relations with business owners. The successful candidate will be expected to take on a portfolio of their own clients within a reasonable period of time. They will also be expected to spend time supervising and training other team members.

    Group Financial Controller

    We are currently working with an exciting Hospitality business who have an excellent culture and are committed to supporting their people, hard-working and have created an inclusive environment where you will feel like you belong.

    We are seeking a Group Financial Controller to take ownership of the financial control and management across the group. You will be responsible for the coaching and management of the finance team, which is currently a very strong team of six.

    The Finance Office is based near Maidstone in Kent, and you will report directly to the Managing Director/Business Owner.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Managing full accounting operations for 3 group companies including consolidation management accounts. Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, reporting any variances. Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements. Creating monthly and annual reports. Ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported. Ensuring all reporting is compliant with statutory law and financial regulations. Documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Developing and improving accounting systems and operations. Supervision of central team of 6 responsible for purchase ledger, stock control, bank reconciliations, VAT compliance and payroll. Liaising with external accountants and tax advisors. Training and development of the finance team. Additional project work as may be required.

    Requirements:

    Proven working experience as a Group Financial Controller for multiple sites. 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience. ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified preferred. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Experience with creating financial statements. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process. Excellent accounting software user and administration skills. Sage 50 experience preferred. Experience working within the hospitality industry essential.

    Remuneration and Reward

    Starting base salary of £50,000 - £60,000 (negotiable dependant on experience). Company Pension. Free Parking. 50% Discount across the Group Establishments.
