AJ Chambers are please to be partnering with a top 30 firm of Chartered Accountants that are looking to appoint an Internal Audit Assistant Manager/Manager to bolster their successful Internal Audit team.

What do the team do?

Their Internal Audit team is growing organically, and they are looking for a confident, driven and commercially aware individual to join them as an Internal Audit Assistant Manager/ Manager to look after their existing client base and to grow their offering further. Internal auditors are valued professionals who support organisations by providing independent assurance that risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively.

The world of internal audit is diverse and rewarding. This role gives them a thorough understanding of how businesses operate, from financial controls, to risk management to business continuity. No two days are the same! Thier client base is almost exclusively made up of public sector entities, namely in the education, charity and not for profit sectors, and their work focuses on driving improvements, efficiencies and adding value to these organisations. You will be supported and challenged from day one, working directly with their close-knit Internal Audit team and introduced to their client base to start building valued relationships.

 

What will I be doing?

As an Internal Audit Assistant Manager / Manager you will have ownership of the following tasks:

·        Demonstrating a high level of competence in leading all internal audit assignments, and ensuring high quality files are prepared for Manager / Director / Partner review.

·        Preparing internal audit assignments and attendance at client premises (or via remote means where necessary) 70% of the role.

·        Presenting of findings and advisory assignments from internal audit assignments, 30% of role.

·        Liaising with clients to competently plan internal audit cycles based on client risk register and the wishes of representatives of ‘Those Charged with Governance' of each client. This will include preparing terms of reference, agreeing dates for work to be carried out, agreeing client deliverables, budget and a reporting timeline for review by Manager / Director / Partner.

·        Controlling of own assignment time, and that of any junior members of staff within pre-determined budget

·        Assisting in business development activities, including attending new client meetings, networking events and marketing events.

 

What experience do I need?

Whilst having the following experience is advantageous, they value passion and potential. If you meet the minimum criteria listed below and are eager to develop yourself, they would love to hear from you:

·        ACA / ACCA / IIA qualified (minimum criteria).

·        Experience planning and working on audits of varying sizes (minimum criteria).

·        Client facing experience.

·        Confident, articulate and able to communicate with all levels (externally and internally).

·        Good at building effective relationships with colleagues, partners and clients.

·        Good IT skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Outlook.
