What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for overseeing the corporate tax compliance work of the practice.
  • Tasked with introducing a robust and fit for purpose corporate tax review process
  • Undertaking the corporate tax reviews identified under that new process together with related adhoc corporate tax work
  • Responsibility for iXBRL tagging with support from other suitably trained staff.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with audit, accounts and tax staff, in conjunction with Managers and Partners in the provision of corporate tax compliance services and advice.
  • Capital allowances advice and reviews
  • Share Scheme and corporate venture capital work to include EIS/SEISS/VCT and EMI
  • Carrying out corporate enquiry work and investigation work.
  • Working closely with the Tax Partner and General Practice Partners in marketing and developing the Corporate tax service to assist in generating new client business and building our reputation in the market.
  • Keep technically up to date and organise/attend tax webinars, seminars and CPD updates as necessary

What is required to be successful in this role?

  • CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified, however those qualified by experience will also be considered.
  • An understanding of large group issues, to include those with overseas holding structures
  • Working knowledge of more complex corporate tax issues to include Intangible assets, the Corporate Interest Restriction and Transfer Pricing.
  • Working knowledge of M&A tax advice to include corporate reconstructions, reorganisations and de-mergers
  • Extensive expertise in preparing and claiming R&D tax relief and the desire to market this service.

    We are delighted to be working with a family-owned and highly reputable commercial vehicle restoration business with three sites across Essex and Kent.

    They are currently looking to add a Senior Finance Assistant, on a full-time basis, to their current team of three. The role will mainly focus on Bank Reconciliations and Sales Ledger, however, there will also be exposed to the wider aspects of the finance function. The role will report directly to the Financial Controller and will be office based at the premises in Grays, Essex.

    Your Responsibilities

    You will be posting bank receipts and payments, and reconciliation of all bank accounts and credit cards across the Group of Companies. You will manage and reconcile the sales finance accounts. You will be posting and full reconciliation of intercompany loan accounts. You will submit sales invoices and statements to customers and manage customer relationships, assisting with arising queries. You will complete credit checks and set up new customer accounts. You’ll provide ongoing support to the Financial Controller.

    Your Skills and Experience

    You are a confident user of Microsoft Excel (Essential), Outlook and Word. You have excellent communication skills, with previous exposure to working with external parties. If you have experience using Sage 50, this would be highly beneficial. You have excellent organisational and time management skills. If you are AAT Qualified, this would be preferred.

Your role:

You would be working for a company that prides itself on offering a friendly personal service to its clients, ranging from owner managed businesses to high-net-worth individuals and Trustees. In addition to the day-to-day accountancy and tax compliance services, they have expertise in areas such as helping businesses grow, tax planning, advising on acquisitions and sales and, succession and exit planning.

This role would see you based primarily in the Hertfordshire office, reporting to a Tax Principal. You would be provided with an exciting opportunity to manage the compliance affairs of a wide-ranging portfolio of corporate and personal clients and develop technical experience by supporting the Business Tax Team in providing advisory services on more complex tax matters such as incorporations, IT/CGT planning, R&D claims, reconstructions and demergers, share schemes and EIS/SEIS.

Who would this suit:

You would ideally be CTA qualified, with experience at supervisor level, or senior level with supervisor duties, including supporting juniors in the team. Your experience would be gained in Practice, and you would have the ability to work on a portfolio of OMBs, taking responsibility for compliance work and identifying tax planning opportunities. Understanding interaction with non-corporate taxes an advantage.
