The firm have an excellent flexible working policy and actively encourages remote working and a work/life balance for all employees, with the requirement to only attend the office 3 days a month.

About the firm

Established for over 50 years, this is a dynamic, medium-sized firm with offices in St Albans and Central London, 10 partners & around 80 staff, ranging from apprentices to highly experienced managers.

They provide the full range of professional services typically provided by an established and progressive accountancy firm, including audit and accounts, management consultancy, payroll and taxation, with clients ranging from all fields of business, industry, the professions and arts, including large corporates operating nationally and internationally, privately owned businesses of every size, partnerships, sole traders and self-employed individuals.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for overseeing the corporate tax compliance work of the practice.
  • Tasked with introducing a robust and fit for purpose corporate tax review process
  • Undertaking the corporate tax reviews identified under that new process together with related adhoc corporate tax work
  • Responsibility for iXBRL tagging with support from other suitably trained staff.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with audit, accounts and tax staff, in conjunction with Managers and Partners in the provision of corporate tax compliance services and advice.
  • Capital allowances advice and reviews
  • Share Scheme and corporate venture capital work to include EIS/SEISS/VCT and EMI
  • Carrying out corporate enquiry work and investigation work.
  • Working closely with the Tax Partner and General Practice Partners in marketing and developing the Corporate tax service to assist in generating new client business and building our reputation in the market.
  • Keep technically up to date and organise/attend tax webinars, seminars and CPD updates as necessary

What is required to be successful in this role?

  • CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified, however those qualified by experience will also be considered.
  • An understanding of large group issues, to include those with overseas holding structures
  • Working knowledge of more complex corporate tax issues to include Intangible assets, the Corporate Interest Restriction and Transfer Pricing.
  • Working knowledge of M&A tax advice to include corporate reconstructions, reorganisations and de-mergers
  • Extensive expertise in preparing and claiming R&D tax relief and the desire to market this service.

We are delighted to be working with a highly impressive Firm based in Hertfordshire, on their search for a Corporate Tax Manager to join their ambitious and successful team.  

What will you be doing -   

  • Assist in the tax planning and advisory projects for a diverse portfolio of clients, which will see you involved in cross border transactions, capital allowance claims and R&D tax credits. - £ -  
  • Managing the corporate tax affairs of an existing portfolio of primarily owner-managed business clients. 
  • Involvement in stand-alone advisory projects for a variety of clients, which might consist of group re-organisations, acquisitions and disposals or equity incentives. 

What are they looking for -  

  • The ideal candidate will be highly proactive and commercially minded.  
  • You will also need experience managing your own portfolio of clients, providing tax advice and have a detailed understanding and working knowledge of corporate tax issues. 
  • The individual must be able to look at the tax issues of private companies both from the point of view of the company structure, and that of their owners. 
  • You will ideally be CTA and or ACA qualified, however those qualified by experience will also be considered.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a team that prides themselves on delivering exceptional quality advisory and compliance services to a wide range of high net worth private clients, including trusts and partnerships. 

What will you be doing -   

As an Assistant Manager you will be responsible for your own portfolio of clients, managing all complex aspects of the tax affairs for a variety of high net worth private clients, alongside dealing will all compliance matters, administration and tax planning. You will also be responsible for training and reviewing the work of junior members of staff. 

What are they looking for -  

The ideal candidate will be committed to a career in tax, and will have a wealth of experience delivering tax work to strict deadlines, whilst being confident with using their own initiative to effectively overcome problems. 

Previous experience of using tax return software is assumed, as is use of Word and Excel. Some knowledge of computerised accounts packages would be useful.

Applicants should be preferably CTA qualified, or equivalent.
