An excellent chance for a Commercial Property Paralegal to join a multi office Law firm in North Essex has arisen with an immediate start.

You will have the chance to work side by side with partners working on a full range of real estate work with clients from sectors such as retail, manufacturing and industrial.

Duties will include:

  • Undertake fee earning tasks to assist with running of a caseload under the supervision and management of qualified lawyers and carry out tasks such as draft legal documents using appropriate precedents and templates which address all relevant legal and factual issues and accurately reflect the client’s instructions
  • Undertake effective legal research, using appropriate methods and sourcing, presenting the results accurately and clearly
  • Highlight and escalate any issues to qualified lawyers
  • Learn firm policies and business processes, ensuring compliance particularly with regards to confidentiality, security data protection and file retention and destruction requirements
  • Providing excellent client service at all times and adhere to the firms’ principles

Requirements:

  • Commercial Property experience as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and other IT packages.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible and proactive approach to supporting the department.

The role will sit within a team of 3 and will provide support, assistance and first class customer service in the delivery of day to day operations within the busy Accounts Department. Ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to in accordance with Solicitors Accounting Rules and business need.

Main duties will include:

  • To ensure all client banking takes place, and recorded in a timely and accurate manner involving liaison across all legal teams and branch offices where necessary
  • To liaise with the firms Bankers and resolve problems in respect of any day to day issues with regard to operation of the firms bank accounts
    To perform daily bank reconciliations
  • To maintain Client held Deposit accounts and perform monthly reconciliations
  • Ensure any residential conveyancing transactions are prioritised each day, perform electronic transfers in a timely manner and reconcile all balances for accuracy
  • To assist the Practice & Accounts Manager in the operation of the firms Office
  • Accounts identifying and advising of any issues/problems that arise
  • To ensure that all direct debits and standing orders are operating properly and to notify the Practice & Accounts Manager if there are issues identified
  • To ensure that all client invoices and credit notes are posted in a timely manner and to ensure that invoices are reconciled to individual matter lists and inputs each month
  • To deal with automated billing
  • To deal with the maintenance of client ledgers (including write offs, closures and transfers) and to check time recording is carried out and that month ends are closed in a timely manner
  • To deal with the purchase ledger system
  • To maintain the petty cash system and to ensure all coding is in accordance with nominal ledgers and balances are regularly reconciled and replenished as appropriate.
