AJ Chambers are working with a well-established, independent accountancy practice who are looking for an Audit and Accounts Senior to join their West London team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Role split of roughly 60% Accounts 40% Audit.
  • Preparation of accounts for corporate and non-corporate entities maintaining working paper files to a high and professional standard.
  • Review the working papers and accounts drafted by more junior staff and providing assistance and mentoring where necessary.
  • Audit of accounts for corporate and non-corporate/charitable entities of various sizes from the planning stage through to finalisation for partner/manager review including on site field work & stock take attendance.
  • Able to work on audits alone or as a lead, supervising, reviewing, and managing the work of a small team.
  • Up to date knowledge of the application of accounting and auditing standards.
  • Preparation of Corporation & Income Tax Computations & CT600 Returns.
  • Reasonable taxation, payroll and statutory knowledge required.
  • Will report directly to partners and/or audit manager and provide back up to the audit manager as required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • 3 years’ experience within UK accountancy practice.
  • Proactive in their approach to the role and the requirements of the firm.
  • Able to organise, manage and control their own workload and adhere to client and office deadlines and discretion.
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office (MS Excel & MS Outlook in particular) as well as bookkeeping software.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with staff and clients on a professional level.
  • Capable of working on numerous clients’ affairs, setting & working to budgets as well as the ability to organize, manage and control their workload whilst adhering to office and client deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with clients on a professional level.
  • Experience of IRIS preferable.

    AJ Chambers are currently working with a leading firm, who are seeking an Audit & accounts Senior to join their friendly team.

    The Audit Senior will manage the audit process, to ensure the audits are of high quality.

    The Role:

    Assists in the planning, execution and finalisation of all areas of the audit assignment for manager or partner review, seeking input for areas of concern and judgement. Predominant amount of time will be spent off-site at clients’ premises. Identifies risk matters and raises with a manager and/or partner, while exercising judgement within agreed parameters. Produce work for the Manager and/or Partner review clearly highlighting issues and providing potential solutions to issues identified. Identify and understand client needs, suggest potential solutions on technical matters and communicate and agree client needs and potential solutions with managers. Active engagement with senior client staff in order to gain a good understanding of their business and ensure the efficient execution of the audit Take primary responsibility for monitoring progress against budget, and when the actual differs from the budget then gain a full understanding for the Manager. Supervise, coach and develop junior members of staff within teams, on client premises and in the office. Ensure compliance with internal (audit methodology and risk management) and external (regulatory) requirements

    The Ideal Candidate:

    ACA/ACCA Qualified Experience supervising and coaching junior members of staff on site. Working knowledge of International Auditing Standards (IAS), IFRS, UK GAAP Working knowledge of firm services, issues regarding advice, and regulation and compliance, including anti-money laundering.

    This is a contract role that can start immediately and will last until the end of January. There will be scope for you to become a permanent member of staff, but there is no pressure to do so.

    You will be comfortable working at a senior level, with confidence that you can tackle all aspects of compliance with limited support required.

    Your role will be to assist with the compliance function over the busy season.

A boutique firm of Accountants in South West London are seeking an Accounts and Audit Semi-Senior to join their team, with the role split approximately 25% Audit, 75% Accounts.

This will be a fast-paced role requiring you to work both under your own initiative and within a team, working primarily on year-end accounts and audit work for a varied portfolio of clients.

  • Preparation of accounts for corporate and non-corporate entities
  • Auditing of clients of various sizes from planning stage through to completion for Partner review
  • Involved in preparation of corporate and personal tax returns

As the ideal candidate, you will have at least 2 years\' experience in Practice, and will have some Audit experience. You could be involved with just 10% of Audit in your current firm and wish to have a higher split, or perhaps you are quite audit focused and wish to reduce the amount of Audit work you do. You will be studying ACA or ACCA and the firm will offer study support for the remainder of your qualification.
