AJ Chambers are pleased to be partnered with a leading Accounts and advisory firm with an office in Cambridge, who are looking to find an Outsourcing Supervisor.

You would be working within the ‘The Business team’ and would be providing a mix of accounting services ranging from bookkeeping and year end accounts preparations, including tax returns, to a rapidly growing and innovative cloud accounting service line.

This team have a relationship centric approach and are trusted advisors to clients of all shapes and sizes, typically owner managed businesses, giving you the opportunity to deal directly with the decision makers and to truly help shape the direction of their firm.

The Outsourcing department is rapidly evolving and has quadrupled in size over the past two years to meet the needs of its ever-growing portfolio of clients. They typically work with moderately sized firms from a plethora of sectors that require external expertise to do their bookkeeping and VAT returns, through to providing them with insightful management accounts.

As part of your day-to-day duties, you will be Managing team workflow and overseeing the delivery of outsourcing tasks on Xero, QuickBooks online and Sage line 50. You will be Designing and implementing processes for each assignment and briefing team members, as well as preparing and reviewing monthly/quarterly management accounts. A large part of your role will be reviewing bookkeeping work undertaken by junior staff, Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, assisting clients with VAT and tax investigations & Providing clients with forecasts and assisting in the compilation of budgets.

You might not have all of the experience below, but if you meet the minimum criteria and are passionate about developing yourself, you will be considered of this role:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA part/fully qualified or qualified by experience (minimum criteria)
  • Experience of working in an accountancy practice preparing sets of accounts (minimum criteria)
  • Significant experience of preparing management accounts, bookkeeping, VAT returns and forecasting
  • Experience using cloud-based accounting systems
  • Client facing experience

You will work as part of the Financial Control team, providing support and cover for the Finance department£s office accounting function (supporting all UK offices).

You will ideally have already started your career within a Finance department and are nearing completion of your formal accounting qualifications or are newly qualified.

The Finance department consists of 21 Finance professionals, operating within three pillars £" Financial Control, Financial Operations and Financial Planning and Analysis, offering a friendly and supportive working environment The team.

You will work under the day-to-day supervision of the Financial Control Manager, the team provides accounting services to the business, including good governance, and monitoring risk and controls within the Finance Department.

You must have either completed/nearing completion of your professional qualifications ACCA/CIMA or ICAEW and have a high level of computer literacy (Word and Excel, or equivalent), with a desire to develop a career in an accounting finance role within a busy Finance department of a professional services organisation.

You will have excellent attention to detail and be well organised, with a flexible, enthusiastic attitude to work and a strong ability to learn through practical experience. Professional services firm experience in finance for an LLP is highly advantageous.

Your Responsibilities and Skills

  • You will review Balance sheet reconciliations and have proactive engagement with stakeholders
  • You will be responsible for payroll accounting; therefore, you should have a thorough understanding of payroll
  • You will thoroughly review and understand accruals and prepayments
  • You must have an understanding and knowledge of project accounting

Duties include:

  • Supporting seniors on audits of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and UK subsidiaries of large multinational groups
  • Working in the audit team on site ensuring that all work is carried out to a high standard and all queries are resolved with the client satisfactorily where possible
  • Accounts preparation in accordance with the firm£s procedures
  • Other adhoc consultancy assignments

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Part qualified ACCA/ACA with practice experience
  • 1-3 years Auditing experience
  • Excellent audit analysis skills
  • Competent planning and completion skills
  • Computer experience - Excel, Word and ideally CCH and Pro Audit
  • Familiarity with IFRS and UK GAAP would be an asset, but not required

AJ Chambers is working with a well-established, Top 20 accountancy practice based in the City of London who are looking for an experienced Management Accountant to join their team.

Our client are a Top 20 practice filled with ambitious individuals who£s mission is to be exceptional accountants and business advisers delivering seamlessly integrated client service.

What will you be doing -

  • The reconciliation of all major control accounts, the preparation of management reporting, assisting with the preparation of the financial statements Preparation of UK VAT and related returns
  • Updating accounting records from the information and documentation made available
  • Ensuring that all assignments are carried out within specified timeframes.
  • Ensuring delivery of reporting in line with client / HM Revenue & Customs / statutory deadlines.

What is required -

  • AAT qualified or qualified by experience
  • ACCA Qualified would be advantageous
  • Previous bookkeeping & management accounts experience working in a practice environment
  • VAT exposure
  • Experience in Sage, QuickBooks or Xero
  • Experience using CCH
