About the role

The role is a hybrid mix of working in the London office & home working. The right person will be managing a portfolio serviced by their own team and working closely with a partner.

Key responsibilities

Working on a diverse portfolio of clients, including small and medium sized privately owned limited companies, LLP’s, partnerships and sole traders. You will need to oversee the delivery of compliance services to clients in addition to ad-hoc projects as they arise.

  • Reviewing the work of members of the team and assisting in their training and development.
  • Managing general office-based day-to-day duties, as required
  • Managing work in progress and being responsible for portfolio billing
  • Preparation of proposals for potential clients
  • Extensive liaison with clients, other departments and partners.

Core requirements

  • ACA/ACCA qualified with previous experience in a managerial role.
  • Able to demonstrate wide experience and competency in delivering accounts and meeting all client’s compliance requirements, managing a team of accountants and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Fully conversant with Sage, Quickbooks and, to an extent, Xero software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Good time management with ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Flexible attitude, with ability to prioritise workloads

    You will be part of a thriving Business Services team, providing accountancy, taxation, and business support services to a wide variety of small and medium sized businesses including limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, not for profit organisations/charities, and professional firms, operating across a variety of sectors.

    What will your day-to-day role look like?

    This is a newly created role which provides excellent opportunities for personal and career development, growth, and progression. Your main responsibilities will include:

    Preparing accounts, including the accompanying tax computations. Assisting with the development of trainees, including reviewing their work and providing feedback. Liaising directly with clients to clear queries. Adhering to deadlines and pre-determined budgets. Working closely with managers and other team members.

    What are they looking for?

    You would ideally hold the ICAEW/ACCA qualification or be able to demonstrate that you are qualified by experience to a similar level. You would need to have previous recent experience within a UK practice environment preparing accounts and tax returns for both unincorporated and corporate clients. Previous exposure to medical sector clients would be advantageous - but is not essential. To be suited to this role, you would need to be tenacious, thorough, with a self-motivated attitude, expert eye for detail and good organisational skills.

    What will your general duties include?

    Review work of junior staff, ensuring quality in compliance with professional standards/requirements. Delegate tasks effectively. Ensure effective communication systems between management and staff are established and disseminated to all staff in the company to ensure coherence and a positive team spirit. Monitor and encourage improvements towards standards of work via guidance, coaching and mentoring. Encourage / foster a culture of continuous development.

    What experience will you have?

    As the ideal candidate, you will be ATT or CTA qualified with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in Practice. You’ll have the ability to assist with managing both a portfolio of clients and junior staff members in your team.
