About the Role

The main focus of the role will be on supporting the clients by providing the full suite of compliance services that you would expect from an accountancy practice.

Primary duties:

  • Limited Company Accounts (FRS102, FRS105) and Corporation Tax Returns
  • UK VAT Returns
  • Sole trader accounts and Self Assessment Tax Returns
  • Answering questions and providing ad hoc advice to clients

About You

You must have at least three years' experience working in a UK accounting practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience using both Xero and TaxCalc software.

  • Completing small accounts and management accounts assignments, with appropriate training, guidance and supervision. To include completion of the accounts file, in accordance with procedures and production of accounts on CCH Central Software for review by Managers.
  • Ad-hoc arrangements, either in house or at a client£s premises covering any of the above areas or general book keeping and accounts work
  • Record time spent on each client£s affairs using the relevant computer software to submit weekly timesheets, ensuring that work is completed within budget
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and attend training such as seminars and CPD updates as necessary
  • Other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time in order to assist the smooth running of the Accounting Solutions Department or to provide additional assistance to clients

Essential skills:

  • Previous experience in book keeping, completing VAT returns and accounts preparation, having completed the AAT qualification (Professional Diploma in Accounting) or equivalent
  • Ideally we are looking for a minimum of 18 months to 2 years£ relevant experience
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines
  • Good organisation skills with the ability to multi task and assist on ad hoc assignment
  • Ability to communicate information clearly, concisely and accurately, both in person and when using the telephone and email
  • Ability to check for accuracy and give good attention to detail

Desirable skills:

  • Prior experience of using CCH software packages, Sage, Quickbooks and/or Xero Account
  • Good IT skills, including experience of accounting software programs, Word, Excel and other Windows based systems

Personal Tax Senior Responsibilities:

  • Processing personal Tax returns
  • Working on tax matters including but not limited to: Capital gains, trusts and estates, income, non-domicile, expatriate and resident.
  • Providing Tax planning advice on an adhoc basis
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and attend training such as tax webinars/ seminars and CPD updates as necessary
  • Attend client meetings
  • Liaising with clients and HMRC on a regular basis
  • Managing the Annual ERS returns submission season
  • Assisting with billing and WIP

Personal Tax Senior Requirements:

  • Ideally ATT qualified
  • Experience of working through 2 busy seasons
  • Possess excellent communication skills £" both verbal and written
  • Fully conversant with current tax issues and relevant legislation
