The Company:

Our client is a long-established Essex based Construction Company, who carry out a broad spectrum of works throughout the UK. The business supplies high quality building contracting services which includes refurbishment, fit out and new build across various Industrial, Blue Chip, Commercial and Restoration sector Client base.

They are currently seeking a Finance Manager to join their team, and you will be responsible for two other employees within the Accounts Team.

This is a permanent and varied accounting role reporting into the Managing Director, you will be a key member of a small finance team that supports all areas of the business. You will be given the opportunity to develop further in your accounting career and really add value in this hands-on role.

The Role:

You will work with and lead the Finance team to ensure month-end deadlines are met and the results are understood, along with being responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, allowing timely review and analysis. You will be involved in regulatory reporting deadlines and making sure disclosures are met, along with coordinating/assisting with the annual external audit. You will lead the finance team in improving processes, systems, controls and analytics within finance and the wider business.

Key duties of the role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage Monthly P&L Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Forecast.
  • Contract and Sub-Contract Costing.
  • Cost Analysis.
  • Producing and Managing the Accounts.
  • Monitoring Performance of Departments.
  • Preparing Financial Statements.
  • Overseeing WIP.
  • Contributing to decisions regarding Financial Strategy.
  • Managing Aged Debtors.
  • Arranging Payment Runs.
  • Bank Reconciliation of Accounts.
  • Raise Invoices and Purchase Orders as requested.
  • Liaising with Clients and Suppliers.
  • CIS and VAT (including reverse charge).
  • Overseeing of the Company and liaising with their insurers as well as assisting with the Company IT systems and liaising with external IT support.

The Candidate:

To be considered for this hands-on and varied Finance Manager role, you will have experience within a similar position within the Construction or Building Trade industry, be Qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) or Qualified by Experience. It is essential you have strong MS Excel skills, and Sage experience would be beneficial. Key communication skills to build relationships at all levels and be able to present technical subjects to non-finance colleagues. You will be a self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines as part of a team and a willingness to challenge/suggest improvements to systems and processes.

    Our client, one of Harrows leading Accountancy Practice firms, are seeking an Audit Senior to join them on a 3-month temporary contract, with the potential for further extension or a permanent role if desired upon completion

    Duties & Responsibilities

    The role is 100% Audit focused Responsibility for a portfolio of clients, all communication with those clients and to make sure that work is completed in a satisfactory and timely manner Planning, execution and finalisation of all areas of the audit assignment and statutory reporting under FRS 102                Budgeting and monitoring progress against budget Manage and coach a small team of semi seniors assisting in audit assignments Produce work for the Audit Manager or Partner review clearly highlighting issues and providing potential solutions Direct communication with the client

    The Ideal Candidate

    ACA/ACCA qualified, with 2-3 years’ of practice experience of which is at least 1 year is leading audits Knowledge of CCH Accounts & CCH Pro-Audit Software and Virtual Cabinet (Document management system) Good communicator as client liaison is very important Good Audit knowledge including a grasp of current audit standards Experience managing own portfolio Able to lead audit from planning to completion unsupervised Experience of managing a small audit team

  • Accounts Semi Senior
    £27,000 - £36,000

    Duties & Responsibilities

    The split in the role is around 75% Accounts and 25% Audit Prepare, deliver statutory accounts and filing of corporation tax Communication with clients and to make sure work is completed in a satisfactory and timely manner To prepare larger non-audit accounts (LLPs and limited companies) for review directly by a portfolio holder To deliver statutory accounts – FRS 102 accounting standard Filing of corporation tax returns (reviewed by Tax Department) Carry out ad hoc Audit tasks by themselves (e.g. stock counts, client money audits etc.) Assist senior staff on larger more complex accounts and audit assignments Manage smaller less complex audit assignments

    The Ideal Candidate

    ACA/ACCA Part Qualified or AAT fully Qualified 2-3 years+ experience working in a small to medium-sized accountancy practice Knowledge of CCH, Pro Audit, Virtual Cabinet, or any other accounting software’s would be beneficial Motivated team player, able to effectively organise your workload in line with Managers instructions and deadlines Excellent communication skills, both written & verbally, as client liaison is a key part of this role
