Treasury Assistant

This role presents an excellent opportunity to work in a broad cashbook department for an established Fashion company. Continuing to develop your business partnering and analytical skills you’ll have exposure to senior stakeholders that you might not have access to in other companies.

You will work closely with the Treasury Manager and take ownership of the day-to-day treasury activities working within the team including cash management, bank account management and reporting. You’ll execute several cashbook improvement projects and help establish an efficient cashbook function.

Your Duties:

  • You will reconcile and overview the business bank accounts.
  • You will reconcile and overview the direct retail, eCommerce, and concession sales (Cash, Visa, Amex, PayPal etc.)
  • You’ll report on actual cash flows by category and compile cash flow projections.
  • You will analyse the daily cash pool positions across all currencies (USD, GBP, EUR, DKK, NOK, and HKD) and establish the global cash requirements of the group. Maintain a rolling monthly cash flow forecast to project funding requirements.
  • You will manage the funding of cash requirements.
  • You’ll execute multiple department improvement projects.
  • You will action cashbook, intercompany and other miscellaneous payments that fall outside of the AP/AR team’s remit.
  • You’ll liaise with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams on unknown receipts and payments going through bank accounts.
  • You will work with the Treasury Manager to streamline reporting and ensure the smooth operation of all Cashbook matters.
  • You must collate and enter data for various financial spreadsheets.
  • You will assist with any other Ad-Hoc duties assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

  • You ideally have 3+ years of Treasury and cashbook-related experience.
  • If you have SAP knowledge and experience, this would be an advantage.
  • You are proficient in other relevant computer applications such as MS Office, Word, and Excel (Pivot and V-Look Up experience essential)
  • You have progressive experience in accounting and or finance.
  • You have strong reconciliation skills.
  • If you know the Retail industry, this would be an advantage.
  • You are well organised with strength in prioritising.
  • You have a flexible attitude to achieve results.
  • You can work to tight deadlines to ensure company demands are met for month-end reconciliations.
  • You can plan and organise.

    What will your day-to-day role look like?

    What are they looking for?

    You would ideally hold the ICAEW/ACCA qualification or be able to demonstrate that you are qualified by experience to a similar level. You would need to have previous recent experience within a UK practice environment preparing accounts and tax returns for both unincorporated and corporate clients. Previous exposure to medical sector clients would be advantageous - but is not essential. To be suited to this role, you would need to be tenacious, thorough, with a self-motivated attitude, expert eye for detail and good organisational skills.

We are currently partnering with a market-leading Essex-based business that specialises in recovery solutions in the UK, working closely with manufacturers and insurance companies that also have an expanded network in Europe.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Finance Manager, you will oversee the accounts department with five direct reports.

Your Responsibilities

Your month-end tasks will cover include:

  • Checking and offsetting intercompany customers/suppliers
  • Profit per contract report for the business
  • Self-bill account reconciliations
  • Aged creditors review across all companies
  • Customer statements distributions

Your daily tasks include:

  • Sales imports to be pulled into Sage
  • Setting up new customers and suppliers
  • Cashbook reconciliations and troubleshooting errors/missing items by team members
  • Chasing customer payments and sorting billing issues where possible with the billing team
  • Coaching more junior members of the team
  • Proactively coming up with better solutions for processes
  • Ad-hoc duties as required by the business

Your Skills

  • Professional accounting qualifications such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA, and ACA would be highly beneficial and individuals that are qualified by experience
  • Sage 50 experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in supervising a small team

Remuneration and Rewards

  • Base salary of £38,000 - £42,000 (Negotiable dependent on experience)
  • 20 days + bank holidays (can use bank holidays on other days should they wish to move them and come in on those days)
