Accounts Receivable Manager

AJ Chambers is currently working with a leading business in Essex that is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to take on an exciting new role within the Group Finance Department to support the Finance Transactions Manager.

You will be an experienced Accounts Receivable Manager with experience in a commercial environment and looking for an opportunity to progress and develop your skills and knowledge.

You will oversee the company Accounts Receivable team and be responsible for ensuring team forecasts and targets are met concerning outstanding company debts, compiling monthly reporting on debtors, and maintaining good relationships with key customers.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will review all customer debtors with UK & Export Account Managers.
  • You will be reviewing daily, weekly & monthly team reporting.
  • You will maintain team KPIs.
  • You will report on department cash collections and group debtor ledgers monthly.
  • You will ensure reporting is standardised throughout the department and processes implemented by Finance Transactions Manager are followed.
  • You will take a proactive role in managing and collecting the debts of company debtors.
  • You will evaluate new credit requests and review customers’ credit ratings.
  • You will set up terms and conditions of credit.
  • You will liaise with the warehouse and wholesale sales team to manage the despatch of customer orders whilst minimising credit exposure.
  • You will take control of cash collection including electronic transfers, credit card and cheque processing.
  • You will follow up on payments as needed.
  • You will control bad debt collection and litigation.
  • You will be negotiating re-payment plans.
  • You will respond to relevant customer enquiries.
  • You will be processing and reconciling invoices.

Your Skills and Experience

  • You have formal computer training.
  • You are proficient in relevant computer applications such as MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Pivot and V-Look Up experience.
  • If you have SAP experience, this would be an advantage.
  • You know reconciliations.
  • You have working experience in a credit control position.
  • You know about working within Finance in the Fashion Industry an advantage.
  • If you have a Driving Licence, this would be an advantage due to the office location.

Remuneration and Reward:

  • Up to £43,000

  • Paralegal - Corporate Commercial

    A top Legal 500 Law Firm in North Essex is looking for a additional member of their Corporate & Commercial Team to work as a Paralegal.

    The successful candidate will be joining a team of exceptional lawyers and support staff in the North Essex based office, delivering legal services to a variety of businesses and business owners, and also in conjunction with other departments within the firm.

    Main duties:

We are currently partnering with a market-leading Essex-based business that specialises in recovery solutions in the UK, working closely with manufacturers and insurance companies that also have an expanded network in Europe.

They work across many sectors and offer a tailored service to each business they work with. They have a proven track record of mitigating loss, enhancing the brand experience, developing customer retention, and increasing client revenue.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Finance Manager, you will oversee the accounts department with five direct reports.

Your Responsibilities

Your month-end tasks will cover include:

  • Checking and offsetting intercompany customers/suppliers
  • Profit per contract report for the business
  • Self-bill account reconciliations
  • Aged creditors review across all companies
  • Customer statements distributions

Your daily tasks include:

  • Sales imports to be pulled into Sage
  • Setting up new customers and suppliers
  • Cashbook reconciliations and troubleshooting errors/missing items by team members
  • Chasing customer payments and sorting billing issues where possible with the billing team
  • Coaching more junior members of the team
  • Proactively coming up with better solutions for processes
  • Ad-hoc duties as required by the business

Your Skills

  • Professional accounting qualifications such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA, and ACA would be highly beneficial and individuals that are qualified by experience
  • Sage 50 experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in supervising a small team

Remuneration and Rewards

  • Base salary of £38,000 - £42,000 (Negotiable dependent on experience)
  • 20 days + bank holidays (can use bank holidays on other days should they wish to move them and come in on those days)
