Construction Solicitor – NQ to 1 year PQE – London
AJ Chambers are currently recruiting for a Construction Solicitor for our client, a commercially focussed, partner-led business who advise clients across a range of sectors including food and drink, hospitality and leisure, media, tech and financial services. They offer a range of top-ranked legal services working both domestically & internationally. They are a down-to-earth business and look for likeminded individuals who like to take on responsibility whilst being supported and encouraged.
Joining a team including 5 Partners, 2 Senior Associates, 2 Associates, 2 Solicitors, a Trainee, Paralegal and 2 Legal Secretaries, you will work on a mix of both contentious and non-contentious work.
Duties include:
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts, sub-contracts, and consultancy agreements;
- Provide legal advice on construction law matters to clients, including risk management and dispute avoidance strategies;
- Support clients on live construction projects, including contract documentation
,advice and assistance, and performance issues; - Drafting collateral warranties and updating precent documents to meet new legislations;
- Conduct research and communicate findings to Partners and other Fee Earners;
- Assist clients to comply with relevant contractual rights and obligations, health and safety regulations, and statute and statutory legal requirements;
- Liaise with clients, contractors, agents, solicitors and lenders in person, by telephone and in writing, offering clear and concise information;
- Assist in managing construction disputes, including adjudication, arbitration, and litigation;
- Managing construction due diligence
- Drafting sub-contracts, updating trackers, reviewing engrossments, and drafting JCT contracts and professional appointments and running conflicts of interest and AML checks;
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training programs.
You will have:
- Strong academic record;
- 6 months trainee experience – 1 PQE experience working in Construction law;
- Experience working within a busy and fast-paced role;
- An outgoing, enthusiastic and confident manner;
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing;
- Strong organisation and administration skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively;
- The ability to see matters through with a good eye for detail;
- A friendly and personable approach with colleagues and clients;
- A proactive and growth mindset towards achieving goals;
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and an ability to pick up new systems quickly;
- The ability to work effectively to deadlines.
In return, our client is paying between £50-60k DOE + great benefits and flexible working.
