An opportunity has arisen for a talented and ambitious accountant to manage their own portfolio and small team at a growing independent practice in Hungerford.

You will start as a Client Manager with an eye to grow and progress as you gain exposure to a burgeoning client base. This role will consist largely of accounts and tax work, along with some business development responsibilities and incentives.

For the right candidate, the firm are willing to pay up to £50,000.

Duties:

  • Dealing with a varied client portfolio including OMBs, construction, entertainment, retail etc
  • Reviewing a wide range of accounts - Limited, sole trader, partnership, LLP\'s
  • Preparation of corporation tax returns and self-assessment returns
  • Providing a management accounts service to clients to include forecasting and budgeting
  • Finalising accounts under the overall control of the directors
  • Supporting the team with more complex accounts work e.g. intercompany transactions
  • Management, review and preparation of personal tax returns
  • Team management

Profile:

  • ACA or ACCA Qualified
  • Significant accounts, VAT and tax experience in practice

The Company:

Our client is a long-established Essex based Construction Company, who carry out a broad spectrum of works throughout the UK. They are currently seeking a Finance Manager to join their team, and you will be responsible for two other employees within the Accounts Team.

This is a permanent and varied accounting role reporting into the Managing Director, you will be a key member of a small finance team that supports all areas of the business. You will be given the opportunity to develop further in your accounting career and really add value in this hands-on role.

The Role:

You will work with and lead the Finance team to ensure month-end deadlines are met and the results are understood, along with being responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, allowing timely review and analysis.   • Act as a major point of contact within the firm for client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided and maintaining regular contact with clients;
  • Provision of general tax advice to clients;
  • Develop, retain and motivate junior members of staff (includes ensuring job appraisal documentation is completed within deadlines and ensuring appropriate objectives and development plans are in place for appraisees)
  • Work as part of the management team on issues such as resources planning, staff retention, improving our tools and processes and efficiency gains
  • Keep up to date with all technical developments to ensure continued excellent services with the client

What will you need to be successful in this role?

  • ACCA/ACA qualified would be ideal although suitable experience qualified by experience would be seriously considered
  • Strong IRIS, Xero, Sage and QuickBooks experience
  • A proven track record in this kind of role
  • Good commercial acumen
