Private Client Solicitor

AJ Chambers are working exclusively with one of the top law firms in Cambridge who has a fantastic offering for a Private Client Solicitor at Associate level.

The successful candidate will work in all areas of Private client work with some of the main duties as follows:

  • Attorney and advising generally on elderly client issues including Deputyships and other Court of Protection applications.
  • Advising client on Inheritance Tax Planning including drafting settlements.
  • Preparing and administering trusts including Deeds of Retirement and Appointment of Trustees, documents altering the terms of the trusts.
  • Advising clients on the wider implications of any transactions or advice.
  • Dealing with the administration of estates including intestacy, high value estates including estates where lifetime gifts have been made, Business Property Relief and/or Agricultural Property Relief have been claimed.
  • Managing highly sensitive and emotive cases.
  • Providing advice on complex matters to other members of the team in relation to Wills, Trusts, tax and Probate issues that require sign off or specialist knowledge.
  • Working with high profile cases which may have a higher level of economic, political, or social impact or risk on the firm.
  • Accountable for managing a complex mixed caseload of client matters without supervision. Providing clients with high quality legal advice whilst proactively managing client relationships. This will include supporting more complex work which cannot be serviced from other offices due to various reasons including experience and capacity.
  • Managing the delivery of legal services in a manner which is both cost-efficient to the client and the firm.
  • Achieving the firm’s fee targets and assisting and enabling others in the team to do so by mentoring and developing junior members of the team.
  • Work closely with your lead partner to develop strategy and annual business plans.
  • Work with the senior management team, other senior associates and attend management meetings as required.
  • Provide updates on progress against objectives, share information and help drive consistency in the department and within the Firm

This role is subject to blended working with an expectation of 60% of the working week being spent in the office. Flexibility of working hours will be required to meet client needs.

  • Senior Finance Assistant

    Senior Finance Assistant

    We are delighted to be working with a family-owned and highly reputable commercial vehicle restoration business with three sites across Essex and Kent.

    They are currently looking to add a Senior Finance Assistant, on a full-time basis, to their current team of three. The role will mainly focus on Bank Reconciliations and Sales Ledger, however, there will also be exposed to the wider aspects of the finance function. The role will report directly to the Financial Controller and will be office based at the premises in Grays, Essex.

    Your Responsibilities

    You will be posting bank receipts and payments, and reconciliation of all bank accounts and credit cards across the Group of Companies. You will manage and reconcile the sales finance accounts. You will be posting and full reconciliation of intercompany loan accounts. You will submit sales invoices and statements to customers and manage customer relationships, assisting with arising queries. You will complete credit checks and set up new customer accounts. You’ll provide ongoing support to the Financial Controller.

    Your Skills and Experience

    You are a confident user of Microsoft Excel (Essential), Outlook and Word. You have excellent communication skills, with previous exposure to working with external parties. If you have experience using Sage 50, this would be highly beneficial. You have excellent organisational and time management skills. If you are AAT Qualified, this would be preferred.

    Remuneration and Rewards

AJ Chambers is currently working with a top 70 firm, who are looking for a Private Client Solicitor at Associate level to help build the firms fast-growing Central Cambridge office. The firm\'s Private Client team is highly-regarded for their Estate Planning, Wills, Probate and Tax services, not just in Cambridge but nationally. As a member of this team, you will work with a varied client base on a caseload of high-value and complex matters.

Candidates should have at least 4+ years PQE in relevant Private Client matters, gained at a reputable firm, and have experience in undertaking supervisory duties within their previous team.

You will be afforded the freedom to manage your own caseload completely and will be responsible for drumming up your own business and bringing in clients.
