The Company:

Our client is a long-established Essex based Construction Company, who carry out a broad spectrum of works throughout the UK. The business supplies high-quality building contracting services which include refurbishment, fit-out and new build across various Industrial, Blue Chip, Commercial and Restoration sector Client base.

The Role:

They are currently seeking an Accounts Manager to join their team, and you will be responsible for one other employee within the Accounts Team.

This is a permanent and varied accounting role reporting to the Managing Director; you will be a key member of a small finance team that supports all areas of the business. You will be allowed to develop further in your accounting career and add value to this hands-on role.

You will work with and lead the Finance team to ensure month-end deadlines are met and the results are understood, along with being responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, allowing timely review and analysis. You will be involved in regulatory reporting deadlines and making sure disclosures are met, along with coordinating/assisting with the annual external audit annually. You will lead the finance team in improving processes, systems, controls and processes within finance and the wider business.

Key duties of the role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Arranging Payment Runs (This is the key job role and a large portion of the job)
  • Dealing with sub-contractors: -
  • Queries
  • Checking and Inputting invoices onto Sage
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders
  • Preparing front certificate sheet for invoices
  • Entering invoices onto the spreadsheet
  • Getting them approved
  • Sub-contractor payment runs and dealing with all chaser emails

    • CIS Deduction Statements
    • VAT Return
    • Bank Reconciliation
    • Credit Card Reconciliation
    • Job Costing
    • CITB
    • P11D’s
    • Petty Cash
  • Manage Monthly P&L Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Forecast
  • Producing and Managing the Accounts
  • Preparing Financial Statements
  • Overseeing WIP
  • Contributing to decisions regarding Financial Strategy
  • Managing Aged Debtors
  • Liaising with Clients and Suppliers (This is for cover only in absence of another team member from time to time)

The Candidate:

To be considered for this hands-on and varied Accounts Manager role, you will have experience within a similar position within the Construction or Building Trade industry. Candidates with professional accounting qualifications such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA or Qualified by Experience is preferred. You must have strong MS Excel skills and Sage 50 experience. Key communication skills to build relationships at all levels and be able to present technical subjects to non-finance colleagues. You will be a self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines as part of a team and a willingness to challenge/suggest improvements to systems and processes.

    A busy and top regional law firm based in Southend is looking to expand its Residential and Commercial Property team with an experienced Legal Assistant to deal with the whole process of Post and Pre completion Conveyancing.

    The role will sit within a busy team supporting two Fee Earners, some of the duties will include:

    Dealing with sale enquiries and related technical matters relating to sales transactions under the supervision of the Property Lawyer. Preparing draft contract packages, searches, exchange and completion letters. Drafting non-standard non-technical correspondence.
