VAT Assistant Manager / Manager – Top 10 firm – Flexible working!

AJ Chambers are currently representing a Top 10 firm who are seeking a VAT Assistant Manager/Manager to be based out of either of their Gatwick or Guildford offices.

Role Overview

This role will provide VAT compliance and advisory services for a wide range of corporate clients in the FTSE100, FTSE250, AIM and private equity backed and privately owned businesses. UK VAT experience/knowledge is essential.

The primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of existing clients and assist with the development of targets in order to ensure the continued growth of the business. You will also provide assistance to senior members of staff in both client work and in the management of the group and on occasions the practice.

Key to the role is for the individual to be able to pro-actively manage their own workload, communicating with senior managers / directors / partners on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • There will be an expectation that you will take full responsibility for project delivery on their portfolio
  • Manage a portfolio of clients including control of billings and cash collection within the firms criteria
  • Review of work prepared by more junior members of staff
  • client/Partner/Principle informed of overruns and plan staff assignments in order to give an appropriate spread of experience
  • Ensure that the firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to including second partner review
  • Identify risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities, to the Partner/Principle/ Senior Manager, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters.
  • Actively participate in the management of the group through Partner/Manager meetings and by attendance at social functions
  • Training must be provided to more junior staff both on the job and through monitoring exam and on the job performance, whilst consistently providing feedback

Requirements:

  • Significant understanding of and previous experience within UK VAT.
  • In-depth knowledge of recent key updates and areas of focus in the area of VAT
  • Responsibility for VAT compliance for own portfolio and involved in any VAT advice required by your clients, assisting the Managers and Senior Managers in delivering this
  • Ideally CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent

    A busy and top regional law firm based in Southend is looking to expand its Residential and Commercial Property team with an experienced Legal Assistant to deal with the whole process of Post and Pre completion Conveyancing.

    The role will sit within a busy team supporting two Fee Earners, some of the duties will include:

    Dealing with sale enquiries and related technical matters relating to sales transactions under the supervision of the Property Lawyer.
