Level/Salary Range: £24,000 - £28,000 per annum

Position Type: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00

Job Description

AJ Chambers currently looking for a Payroll Administrator / Bookkeeper within the Finance Department of our Client based in Leatherhead, Surrey. The position has become available due to an impending retirement, so a significant handover period will be provided. Full training will also be provided.

Role and Responsibilities:

Primary role – process weekly wages for site operative (50-75 staff) for both CIS and PAYE teams.

  • Populate weekly spreadsheet with data received by text from site operatives.
  • Upload payroll data from spreadsheet to QuickBooks/Sage.
  • Process weekly CIS payroll payments.
  • Processing weekly PAYE payments, including pension contributions.
  • Assisting in general administration of business, such as:
    • answering incoming calls.
    • emailing managers if not in the office to take calls.
    • process parking for site operatives.
    • general filing.
    • other general admin duties.
    • Reporting to line manager.

Development role - after extensive in-house training in weekly wages processing is completed, duties and responsibilities will expand to include:

  • Accuracy of data on QuickBooks.
  • Inputting supplier invoices to QuickBooks.
  • Creating sales invoices on QuickBooks and issuing to customers.
  • Checking monthly supplier statements.
  • Monitoring and following up on unpaid sales invoices.
  • Checking and reporting on monthly customer statements.
  • Monitoring supplier accounts on QuickBooks.
  • Making payment to suppliers.
  • Vetting subcontractors, including verifying them with HMRC and setting up their accounts on QuickBooks and bank.
  • Managing CIS, including monthly returns to HMRC and payments to HMRC.
  • Monitoring, calculating and reporting VAT and making payments to HMRC.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Experience of running a payroll or working in a payroll team in an accountancy practice, or bureau environment essential.

Preferred Skills

MS Excel, QuickBooks Online, Sage Payroll, MS Outlook.
