The Role

As Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for solely heading up the accounts department, under the Director's remit.

Day-to-day duties include:

  • All financial aspects of the Business in liaison with Director and external accountants
  • Check the bank accounts and print off statements - enter bacs payments received on Sage
  • Assist Credit Control with one other
  • CIS
  • Bought ledger input and payments
  • Weekly bank reconciliations
  • Quarterly VAT returns including EC Sales Lists
  • Check all nominal accounts to see if anything untoward
  • Assisting with Yearend account/quarterly management accounts for the external accountants
  • Enter cheque payments on to Sage
  • Taking calls (both sales and accounts based) dealing with queries

The Candidate

  • Significant experience within accounts, ideally gained within the construction sector
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good working knowledge of financial systems
  • Experience in preparation of budgets, management accounts and variance reports

AJ Chambers has just been instructed on an exclusive basis to represent a well-established firm of chartered Accountant that are looking to appoint a Part Qualified Accountant due to growth. As the firm heads into January deadlines, they are keen to set up new starter for February, as the firm continues to grow.

Location: Leigh-on-Sea, Essex

Part Qualified Accountant - Duties:

  • Working with Senior Accountants and experienced staff on accounts production jobs for limited companies and sole traders
  • Preparing associated director and self-assessment tax returns
  • Supporting the Senior\'s and Managers on the workload and supervision of Trainees
  • Reviewing the bookkeeping and VAT work completed by Trainees and complete more complex tasks and queries in this area
  • Handling client queries and liaising with the HMRC
  • Progression to working on more complex management accounts when trained
