You will be AAT PQ/Qualified and enjoy working on a varied portfolio of clients. From data entry, ledger management to bookkeeping and management reporting – this role will suit you if you like being busy, have great customer service and communication skills and a high level of IT literacy, particularly within accounting software.

About the role
Semi-Senior Accountant to work within a busy Accounting Solutions Department in the London office, which provides a wide range of services to clients, including accounts preparation, bookkeeping and the production of management accounts and information.
The main duties for this position will involve working on the books and records for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies (including those within groups) along with the preparation of VAT returns, statutory and management accounts.
The ideal candidate will have relevant previous experience, have completed their AAT qualification and will be self-motivated, computer literate and have good written and verbal communication skills. Study support may be made available for candidates completing or looking to complete their ACCA qualification.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Undertaking bookkeeping on behalf of clients (in house or at client premises), including processing transactions from documents provided by the client and reconciling control accounts, including Bank, Sales ledger, Purchase ledger and VAT The preparation and completion of client VAT returns, including liaising with the client to provide the required information, producing supporting schedules and completing the VAT return by the deadline Completing small accounts and management accounts assignments, with appropriate training, guidance and supervision. To include completion of the accounts file, in accordance with procedures and production of accounts on CCH Central Software for review by Managers. Ad-hoc arrangements, either in house or at a client’s premises covering any of the above areas or general book keeping and accounts work Record time spent on each client’s affairs using the relevant computer software to submit weekly timesheets, ensuring that work is completed within budget Attend and participate in team meetings and attend training such as seminars and CPD updates as necessary Other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time in order to assist the smooth running of the Accounting Solutions Department or to provide additional assistance to clients
Essential skills:
Previous experience in book keeping, completing VAT returns and accounts preparation, having completed the AAT qualification (Professional Diploma in Accounting) or equivalent Ideally we are looking for a minimum of 18 months to 2 years’ relevant experience Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines Good organisation skills with the ability to multi task and assist on ad hoc assignment Ability to communicate information clearly, concisely and accurately, both in person and when using the telephone and email Ability to check for accuracy and give good attention to detail
Desirable skills:
Prior experience of using CCH software packages, Sage, Quickbooks and/or Xero Account Good IT skills, including experience of accounting software programs, Word, Excel and other Windows based systems
Financial Controller (Property Investment)
We are currently working with a Property Investment Company that has an exciting opening to lead their Finance Team in Cambridgeshire.
With over 50 years of experience in property investment, our client's core focus is on the quality of service they provide. They have an enviable portfolio covering Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for all financial aspects of the group and the major client. You will have one direct report (Finance Manager) with a strong finance team to support.
Your Objectives:
You will provide the Board with financial information and insight You will organise and lead the work associated with financial and management accounts You must ensure that all regulatory taxation requirements are adhered to You must ensure borrowings are reported on and compliance returns are completed You will be the main point of contact for the major client regarding financial reporting for their portfolio You will have responsibility for the design and implementation of internal controls and processes
Your Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting:
You must ensure that all financial accounting is completed in a timely fashion, including liaison with the group's auditors You will manage the cash flow and treasury You will manage tenant arrears and quarterly reporting You will sign off prospective tenant credit checks
Management Accounts:
Responsibility for the design and implementation of internal controls and processes You must ensure that monthly accounts are produced including variance analysis, P&L and Balance sheets accurately and in a timely fashion You will support the Finance Manager with management of the wider finance team as required You will manage the budgeting process for the group and the major client You will manage the accounts software and ensure that we are utilising it to its maximum capacity
Banking:
You will establish and maintain good relationships with funders to support the needs of the group and major client You must ensure that all funders receive accurate and timely compliance returns based on their requirements You will work with financial institutions to obtain financing for new purchases, developments, and refinancing
Taxation:
You must ensure that all regulatory requirements are adhered to for VAT, Corporation tax etc and effective tax planning is undertaken You will liaise with the external auditors and other professionals over Corporation tax and maximisation of capital allowance claims You will prepare accounting information for our major client’s personal taxation working closely with their accountants and tax advisers
Management:
You will look for opportunities to develop finance team staff and regularly assess their abilities based on business needs, in conjunction with the Finance Manager You must ensure there are regular one to one meetings with the Finance Manager and they conduct the same with the wider finance team
Other Tasks:
You have oversight of utility contracts and the renewal process You have oversight of weekly and monthly payrolls You are the Bank signatory and payment processer You will undertake any additional tasks and responsibilities necessary to achieve the objectives of the role
